VALORANT Patch 3.05: Huge Agent Ability interaction changes, Killjoy Turret nerfs, Boombot nerfs, and more

Patch 3.05 rolls out with Agent ability interaction changes, Raze & Killjoy nerfs, and brings in the newest map: Fracture.

In VALORANT for quite a while now, the interaction between certain agent abilities remained inconsistent and with this patch, Riot aims to fix just that. Breach, Brimstone, and Sova received changes in how their abilities interact with others. Killjoy turret received a Huge nerf as the tagging isn’t as harsh. Furthermore, Raze’s Boombot received changes with reduced damage but also reduced cost.

The biggest update with patch 3.05 is the addition of the new map: Fracture. It will be on a separate playlist just like Breeze for the first 2 weeks. Additionally, Immortal rank tiers 1-3 are back and there will also be a small XP boost until the end of Act Two.

Agent Updates

Brimstone, Sova, and Breach’s abilities will all receive consistency changes to ability damage, making them more effective at dealing with enemy abilities. But players must adjust their tactics to avoid destroying their teammates’ abilities and equipment in the process. Here are the specific damage changes for the three agents:

Breach

Aftershock now deals damage to the following:

  • Killjoy Alarm Bot
  • Killjoy Nanoswarm
  • Killjoy Lockdown
  • Cypher Tripwire
  • Reyna Leer
  • Sage Barrier Orb
  • Sova Recon Bolt
  • KAY/O Zero/Point

Brimstone

Orbital Strike now deals damage to the following:

  • Killjoy Nanoswarm
  • Cypher Trapwire
  • Sage Barrier Orb
  • Sova Recon Bolt
  • KAY/O Zero/Point

Sova

Hunter’s Fury now deals damage to the following:

  • Killjoy Nanoswarm
  • Cypher Trapwire
  • Sage Barrier Orb
  • Sova Recon Bolt
  • KAY/O Zero/Point

Killjoy

Killjoy’s Turret is a versatile ability that provides information, chips away at enemy health, alert players to enemy movement, and slow down players to help secure an easy kill. Despite the turret being manageable in later rounds, Riot Games noticed how strong it performed in pistol rounds. The turret could significantly oppress a team down a long sightline, making it tough to push forward.

Turret

  • Bullet tagging reduced from a 72.5%slow >>> 29.5% slow.

Raze

The Boom Bots’ ability to clear space, spot, and track opponents, as well as one-shot enemies with Light-shield, left you with limited options for counterplay, especially during low eco rounds. To resolve this issue without completely ruining the Boom Bot, it now costs less but does less damage. This should also increase the frequence Raze mains can use the boom bot to clear space.

Boom Bot

  • Maximum damage reduced 125 >>> 80
  • Minimum damage reduced from 50 >>> 30
  • Cost reduced from 400 >>> 300

Competitive Updates

Immortal 1/2/3 tiers are back and updated Ranked grouping restrictions

  • Diamond 1 → Immortal 1
  • Diamond 2 → Immortal 2
  • Diamond 3 → Immortal 3
