Riot is continuously trying to improve the overall characteristics & quality of competitive matches. Hiding player ranks during competitive matches will surely bring some positive changes to the game. It’s a huge blessing for the struggling players with lower ranks. Previously, players developed a common practice to leave only a sentinel/initiator agent for the lowest ranking player in the lobby. However, the release of patch 2.04 will decisively end the case.
Besides that, VALORANT players will now enjoy a less-toxic environment in competitive lobbies. Additionally, high-ranking players won’t face the artificial pressure of scoring the highest amount of kills due to their ranks. As a consequence, in-game interactions between players will also improve. The concealment of ranks will enable low-ranking players to perform with much greater confidence in-game.
However, rank concealments will be removed once a match is completed, allowing players to finally get a glance at the ranks of their friends and foes. The overall impact of such adjustments will hugely reduce toxicity-related issues. Back in January of this year, “Steel” from 100T stated the presence of a superiority complex in Platinum-Diamond matches which he described as “Sad and gross”.
