VALORANT is an upcoming tactical shooter from Riot Games, the developers behind the games such as League of Legends.
VALORANT has more similarities with CSGO than one might realize. The only thing that really makes it different apart from its art style is probably gonna be its agent abilities. Riot Games took inspiration from games like team fortress 2, Overwatch, etc and tried to give their own spin to the genre.
This agent tier list is based upon the impression of the open beta of the game. The agent tier list is really subjective and will be updated whenever Riot decides to Nerf or buff some of them. Since VLOARNT is more focused on having twitch aiming skills, weapons are always gonna be better than abilities if they aren’t used properly.

SAGE
Sage is gonna be one of the most essential agents in this list. She is gonna have a high pick rate in competitive ranked matches. As her abilities can heal, throw slow orb to slow down unwanted aggressors, make a barrier that can be used by teammates to have that high angle advantage on your enemies. Most important of them all is her ultimate which will literally allow her to respawn teammates. She is gonna be a must pick for competitive matches.
Brimstone
Brimstone is also gonna be a fan favorite as his sky smoke will allow him to smoke areas at the beginning of the match. This will allow his teammates to do a really aggressive play if they want to. Incendiary is also gonna be useful to hold a site or delay the attackers.
Pair his smoke with stim beacon and get ready to see some crazy plays whenever a team is really down on their luck and want to turn the game around. His ultimate orbital strike will allow him to literally blow up anyplace on the map. He will surely see a lot of love from the competitive community.
Cypher
Cypher is the only agent besides Sova who can actually help you with gathering enemy location with his ultimate Neural theft. And with his tripwire, spycam, and cyber cage this agent can practically hold down a site on his own while his teammates can make plays.
He will really pair well with other agents like sage and brimstone. They will probably be a dynamic trio that will be really favorable to have in your team.
A-tier
Sova
Sova is one of those agents who will have a high pick rate on competitive matches. Information is key in tactical shooters. There is no other agents in the game that can provide your team with more intelon your opponents than Sova.
From his drone to recon bolt, he will be able to gather useful information on enemy teams, unlike most agents. Pair that with his shock bolt and ultimate hunters fury he will be able to make some insane plays.
Viper
Viper will be a great attacker on a spike site where she can plant a spike and use her ultimate viper’s pit to defend it from multiple enemies at a time. Since most of her abilities can easily damage teammates, she will probably have a high skill ceiling than other agents on this list.
She is mainly an expert in holding down an area. Get ready to see her clutch some 1v3 with her ultimate. And also her other abilities can easily buy enough time for her teammates to pull off that sweet victory.
Breach
Breach as the name suggest will help out a lot while attacking any particular site in mind. Most of his utilities are centered around really pushing around a corner or stunning everyone with his ultimate move.
Breach is gonna be a great choice for players who just want to push around corners and get those nasty frags early. With abilities like aftershock and flashpoint, he will be a great support to someone like Jett or Phenoix when they’re making a big play. He will be a staple of every aggressive team in the competitive scene of VALORANT.
B-tier
Jett
From the looks of things, she is probably gonna be a fan favorite. She has all the flashy moves that are mainly centered around speed and making those big plays. While her abilities may seem too overpowered at first they really aren’t.
Since VALORANT really favors those with twitch aim, Jett will require someone with precise aiming skills to truly reach her potential. Using her without being really careful about it might not work as you have a good delay between when you actually pull out your gun after flashing sideways or vertically to take a new angle.
Having said all that, it is really clear that she is gonna be for those flashy players who just want to show off their snappy flicks to the head.
Phoenix
Phoenix will probably gonna be a great agent to start your VALORANT journey with as most of his abilities are really easy to understand. If you haven’t played any tactical shooters before, then this might give you a smoother starting point then all other agents.
That aside his flame-based abilities are really cool to look at. With his Hot hands and curveball, he will be a good attacker to begin your way to the top. lastly his ultimate will be great for pushing around corners with multiple enemies without the fear of losing your life.
Omen
Omen is gonna be one of those agents who are a little hard to master but on the right hand will gonna turn the tides of any competitive match. Most of his abilities are centered around being really stealthy. With shrouded step and paranoia he will be able to pull off some ridiculous flanks.
Finally, his ultimate will literally allow him to teleport anywhere on the map. Just imagine the possibilities of how creatively this will be used on a competitive platform. Pro players will definitely pull off some insane flanks or bamboozles on their opponents that might just turn the tides of the battle.
Raze
Raze’s abilities are centered around her bots. They are kind of like a heat-seeking missile. And will hunt down players once they are activated. Her blast pack essentially works like a C4. It will be useful in blowing out your enemies.
Raze will be able to hold down corners using her paint shells which are basically grenades. While her ultimate showstopper will be reserved for those late-game clutches. Raze will be a great choice for defenders.
