Ubisoft recently announced that they will be merging Uplay and Ubisoft Club into a single platform called Ubisoft Connect. “It aims at giving the best environment for all players to enjoy their games and connect with each other whatever the device.”
Just like Uplay, Ubisoft Connect will be free and you can use your current Ubisoft account to log-in. In addition to all the functionality of Uplay and Ubisoft Club, Ubisoft Connect brings brand-new features like a dedicated newsfeed to check out their friends’ activities and achievements. For those looking for tips on how to improve at Rainbow Six Siege or how to recruit a beekeeper in Watch Dogs: Legion, the new “Smart Intel” feature brings personalized tips and video recommendations based on your current in-game activities.
With the introduction of Ubisoft Connect, all your existing Club “Units” and XP will be transferred to the new system. And the most important change overall is the introduction of crossplay and cross-progression in “selected games”. So if you are playing Watch Dogs: Legion on PC, you can switch over to your console and continue from where you left off. Cross-progression will be supported in Watch Dogs Legion, Hyper Scape, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Riders Republic, with more multiplayer games being added soon.
There will also be some changes to the existing Uplay overlay, noticeably the chat and settings tab will be removed, but will remain inside the app.
Rewards in Rainbow Six Siege, AC Odyssey, and Steep will be unavailable from October 21st to October 27th, as they make the transition to Ubisoft Connect. Between October 26th and October 27th, there will be a maintenance to UPDATE THE UPLAY PC CLIENT and Ubisoft Club services to Ubisoft Connect and their webpages with the new Ubisoft Connect branding.
Ubisoft Connect will go live with the launch of Watch Dogs: Legion on October 29th. So there will be an update to your Uplay desktop app to automatically apply the new patch.
