Ubisoft will finally be introducing its new chat service to the revamped Ubisoft Connect app this week.
In October 2020, Ubisoft merged Uplay and Ubisoft Club into a single platform called Ubisoft Connect. This was done to create a more seamless experience for all the players; however, some important features like the chat service got removed from the overlay with the launch of the new client.
Ubisoft has now announced that they will be bringing back the chat system, which has been reworked to “align with the rest of the Ubisoft Connect experience”.
While the new chat system might look very similar in design, it has received a major technical overhaul to provide a “more stable, reliable, and faster service”. The chat also aims to provide a safer and less toxic environment by giving users the option to directly block others within the chat.
But one downside of this reworked system is that all your previous chat histories will be deleted. So, if you rely on chat history to identify some of your friends, make sure to assign a nickname in the desktop app so you remember who they are. Ubisoft will also be limiting the number of participants in a group chat to only 24 users.
The new Ubisoft Connect chat service will release tomorrow, June 1st, on the desktop app. But the in-game overlay chat will be made available in the coming weeks, rolling out over the course of a few days to ensure it is delivered in the smoothest way possible.
