Twitch recently banned streamer and partner ‘Froste’ for using hateful slurs, Froste claims it was a misunderstanding.

Erind Puka or more commonly known online as ‘Froste’ is an American Twitch Streamer and YouTube Content Creator. His streams and video content mostly revolve around playing video games. Froste is also active on Instagram frequently sharing pictures and videos giving insight into his daily life.

Back in August of 2021, Froste did a subathon on Twitch lasting for 41 days. During this time Twitch banned Froste twice for DMCA strikes from Disney and Warner Bros. At one point he apparently also suffered an injury forcing him to visit the hospital.

But, Twitch banned Froste for a third time due to getting tangled in the recent “Cracker” controversy. According to Wikipedia, “Cracker” is a derogatory term used against the poor rural white people of the USA. As such, Twitch considers this a racial slur and bans anyone who uses it. Back on December 14th, Twitch also banned popular streamer Hasan Piker for using the same term. This sparked a lot of controversies and even attracted the attention of people like xQc and Ethan Klein.

Froste defended his use of the word “Cracker” by saying he was only referring to the food cracker. he wrote in his unban appeal,

“I was banned for 7 days for calling my friend a ‘cracker’ in his twitch chat. While I understand that racial slur are bannable on Twitch, I was simply referring to the food crackers(like cheese and crackers) so plz unban.”
