Top 10 best support characters in Genshin Impact, all in a respectable tier list.
Genshin Impact is an online-RPG game developed by Chinese studio Mihoyo. The free-to-play RPG is available across PlayStation, PC, and Mobile. Since its release, Genshin has garnered the attention of many gamers worldwide.
Currently, Genshin Impact has more than 49 playable characters. Most of the time, players run after DPS characters but forget that supports enable these DPS characters to shine. You have probably seen Genshin Impact damage showcase videos on YouTube. These videos show Hutao, Eula, Childe hitting millions of damage in a single strike. But the characters that enable these big damage numbers are supports.
Playing Genshin Impact successfully depends on how you play the game with a well-balanced team. Using other support characters with your main DPS by utilizing the game’s unique elemental reaction system can be viable in defeating enemies.
The gameplay is based entirely on teamwork and tactical gameplay. Mihoyo has provided a lot of support characters that can be used to enhance your main DPS characters as well as your entire party.
For everyone looking for great support characters, here are the Top 10 support characters in Genshin Impact as of right now.

Top 10 Best Supports
10. Jean
Jean is a 5-star Anemo sword character in Genshin Impact. She is currently the acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, busy trying to maintain Mondstadt, the City of Freedom. Jean can act as support as well as a good damage dealer.
Her elemental skill Gale Blade, focusing the might of the formless wind around her blade, Jean releases a miniature storm, launching opponents in the direction she aims at, dealing massive Anemo damage. Not to mention, her elemental burst Dandelion Breeze, calling upon the wind’s protection, Jean creates a swirling Dandelion Field, launching surrounding opponents and dealing Anemo damage. At the same time, she instantly regenerates a large amount of HP for all party members.
Out of every other character on the list, Jean has the potential to be a DPS and great support.
9. Sucrose
Sucrose is a 4-star Anemo catalyst character in Genshin Impact. Dubbed as the queen of elemental reactions, this alchemist from Mondstadt is an excellent character for crowd control and creating elemental reactions.
Sucrose’s elemental skill Astable Anemohypostasis Creation – 6308, provides a weaker crowd control but swirls pretty well. Sucrose’s elemental burst Forbidden Creation – Isomer 75 / Type II makes up for it because of elemental absorption. Her burst creates a giant crystalfly and attacking it with another element will change to that element which will deal a massive amount of elemental damage.
Sucrose is decent at C0, but she becomes really powerful with her constellations. Her C6 makes her elemental burst Forbidden Creation – Isomer 75 / Type II trigger an elemental absorption. All party members gain a 20% Elemental DMG Bonus for the corresponding absorbed element during its duration. So Sucrose gradually gets better with every single with her constellations. Sucrose can be obtained from the Standard Wish and Character Event Wish banners when featured.
For a character who can be used as a support and deal a significant amount of damage, Sucrose is really great.
8. Mona
Mona is a 5-star Hydro catalyst character in Genshin Impact. Mona is an astrologer of great skill and pride currently living in Mondstadt, originally from Liyue. Being a catalyst user, Mona is excellent because her normal attacks are fast and act as a fast hydro applier.
Mona’s elemental skill, Mirror Reflection of Doom, creates an illusory Phantom of Fate from coalesced waterspouts that taunt enemies into attacking a decoy continuously dealing Hydro damage to nearby opponents. Mona’s elemental burst Stellaris Phantasm, summons the sparkling waves and creates a reflection of the starry sky, applying the Illusory Bubble status to opponents in a large AoE. It applies an omen to the opponent, giving a DMG Bonus and increasing the DMG of the attack that caused it. This makes it one of the strongest in the game.
While she is on this list as a Support, Mona can be played as a Sub-DPS or a main-DPS. She was the first exploration character to have an alternative sprint, making her travel in the water much faster.
7. Sangonomiya Kokomi
Sangonomiya Kokomi is a 5-star Hydro catalyst user from Watasumi Island of Inazuma. Kokomi is the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island and a descendant of the Sangonomiya Clan. She is not usually considered an offensive character, but she is too good at being one of the best healers and supports in Genshin Impact.
Kokomi’s elemental skill Kurage’s Oath creates a ‘Bake-Kurage’ that deals Hydro damage to surrounding opponents and heals nearby active characters at fixed intervals. The ‘Bake-Kurage’ will include healing capacities and an increase to her elemental burst.
Kokomi’s elemental burst Nereid’s Ascension summons the might of Watatsumi, dealing Hydro damage to surrounding opponents, before robing Kokomi in a Ceremonial Garment made from the flowing waters of Sangonomiya. It increases Sangonomiya Kokomi’s resistance to interruption and allows her to walk on the water’s surface. Kokomi’s Normal Attack, Charged Attack, and Bake-Kurage damage are increased based on her max HP, so she is a straightforward character to build and use in teams.
Sangonomiya Kokomi can fit into teams that require an excellent Hydro applier for freeze and vaporize teams. She is an excellent 5-star healer and support that players will have fun to play with.
6. Diona
Diona is a 4-star Cryo bow user from Mondstadt. Everyone’s favorite bartender from Cat’s Tail, Diona, is easy-to-use support in the game. Diona is a unique character because she can provide a shield and heal as a unit. Diona’s elemental skill Icy Paws fires an Icy Paw that deals Cryo damage to opponents and forms a shield on hit. The shield’s damage absorption scales are based on Diona’s Max HP, and its duration scales off the number of Icy Paws that hit their target. Her elemental burst Signature Mix tosses out a special cold brew that deals AoE Cryo damage and creates a Drunken Mist in an AoE that will heal your characters as well.
Diona is an outstanding character, but she gets better with every constellation. Her C2 Shaken, Not Purred increases Icy Paws‘ damage by 15%, increases its shield’s damage absorption by 15%, and provides a shield for everyone in the Co-Op party. Diona’s sixth constellation, Cat’s Tail Closing Time, characters within Signature Mix’s radius will gain 30% Healing Bonus, and Elemental Mastery will be increased by 200, making this one of the strongest and most important constellations in the game. Diona can be obtained from the Standard Wish banner, and featured Character Event Wish banners.
Diona is one of the most versatile characters who can support the team in fitting into many teams that require a shield and healing, making her top-tier support in Genshin Impact.

5. Venti
Venti is a 5-star Anemo bow character in Genshin Impact. He is a free-spirited, wine-loving bard in Mondstadt and the current mortal vessel of Barbatos, the Anemo Archon. Venti is one of the most popular playable characters in the entire game, and he was also one of the first 5-star Banner characters to ever appear in the game.
Venti is incredible for crowd control in the game because of his elemental burst. His elemental burst Wind’s Grand Ode fires off an arrow made of countless coalesced winds, creating a huge Stormeye that sucks in opponents and deals continuous Anemo damage. If the Stormeye comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, it will deal with additional Elemental DMG of that type making his burst one of the most broken elemental bursts in-game.
Venti’s elemental skill Skyward Sonnet summons a wind domain at the opponent’s location, dealing AoE Anemo damage and launching opponents into the air. Holding his skill summons an even larger wind domain with Venti as the epicenter, dealing AoE Anemo damage and launching affected opponents and Venti into the air.
If you have characters of other elements to pair with Venti, you can also trigger elemental reactions with his burst and deal even more damage making Venti one of the strongest characters in the game.
4. Kaedahara Kazuha
Kaedahara Kazuha is a 5-star Anemo sword user from Inazuma. Kazuha was the first character introduced in Genshin Impact from the land of Inazuma, a wandering samurai of the once-famed Kaedehara Clan and is a temporary crewmember of The Crux. Kazuha can swirl elements onto enemies with both of his elemental abilities.
Kazuha’s elemental skill Chihayaburu, unleashes a secret technique as fierce as the rushing wind that pulls objects and opponents towards Kazuha’s current position before launching opponents within the AoE, dealing Anemo damage and lifting Kazuha into the air on a rushing gust of wind. Kazuha’s elemental burst Kazuha Slash, the signature technique of Kazuha’s self-styled bladework – a single slash that strikes with the force of the first winds of autumn, dealing AoE Anemo DMG. The blade’s passage will leave behind a field named ‘Autumn Whirlwind’ that periodically deals AoE Anemo DMG to opponents within its range. If Autumn Whirlwind comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, it will deal additional elemental damage of that type.
Kazuha is good at C0 and gets good with every single of his constellations. Kazuha gets good with C1, C2, C4, and with his sixth constellation, Kazuha becomes a massive damage dealer.
To many Genshin Impact players, Kazuha is probably the best Anemo character ever introduced in the game.
3. Xingqiu
Xingqiu is a 4-star Hydro sword user and one of the best supports in the game. Since Genshin Impact’s release, Xingqiu single-handedly carried the entire pyro element.
His elemental skill Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen summons several rainswords that will deal a surprising amount of Hydro damage and give you damage resistance. It will heal you once they expire despite having a long cooldown. Xingqiu’s elemental burst Guhua Sword: Raincutter is one of the strongest bursts in the game, summoning the maximum number of rainswords that will apply Hydro fast, dealing significant Hydro damage even when he is not on the field. Active character’s Normal Attacks will trigger consecutive sword rain attacks, dealing Hydro DMG. This makes Xingqiu an excellent support for any Pyro or Cryo team for Vaporize and Freeze.
Xingqiu is a great good character even with no constellations. However, he gets really powerful with every constellation, so they are significant. His constellations will increase his damage potential. His sixth constellation, ‘Hence, Call Them My Own Verses’, activating 2 of Guhua Sword: Raincutter’s sword rain attacks significantly enhance the third sword rain attack. On a hit, the third sword rain attack also regenerates 3 Energy for Xingqiu. His C6 is one of the best 4-star constellations in the game.
As a 4-star character, Xingqiu is a universal Hydro support unit that can fit into any team and one of the must-have support characters in Genshin Impact.

2. Zhongli
Zhongli is a 5-star polearm character in Genshin Impact. He currently works as a consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Zhongli is the ultimate defense unit in the game. His elemental skill Dominus Lapidis places a Geo pillar that will deal with AoE damage to enemies near the pillar. Holding the skill down will create a tanky shield and deal stronger AoE damage. Zhongli’s elemental burst Planet Befall is a meteor that will petrify enemies for a short duration and deal a massive amount of damage.
Zhongli’s constellations are hard to obtain because he is a 5* character. But still, he is good with C0, and with each of his constellations, he becomes outstanding. Notably, with his C2 ‘Stone, the Cradle of Jade’, Planet Befall grants nearby characters on the field a Jade Shield when it descends, which is good in Co-Op as well.
As support, Zhongli might be the most straightforward character in this list because of how good his shield is and overall as a character.
1. Bennett
Well. It’s not shocking to see him on top, is it? Bennett is a 4-star Pyro sword-using character and arguably the best support in Genshin Impact right now. Known for unfortunate luck, Bennett is the only remaining member of Benny’s Adventure Team.
With his elemental skill, Passion Overload, Bennett makes a Pyro attack. Bennett can buff any team with his burst, which not only gives a huge attack boost to the party but heals them in the process. Bennett’s elemental burst Fantastic Voyage creates an inspiration field, and characters within the AoE are equal to or fall below 70%, and their health will continuously regenerate. If a character’s health within the AoE is higher than 70%, they gain an ATK Bonus based on Bennett’s Base ATK, which makes Bennett’s elemental burst one of the strongest in the game. Moreover, he has a short cooldown on his elemental skill and elemental burst. Because of his short elemental skill cooldown, he can generate a lot of Pyro energy for your team.
Bennett becomes good with constellations, especially with his C1. With his first constellation, ‘Grand Expectation’, Fantastic Voyage‘s ATK increase no longer has an HP restriction and gains an additional 20% of Bennett’s Base ATK. However, his sixth constellation will make Sword, Claymore, or Polearm-wielding characters inside Fantastic Voyage‘s radius gain a 15% Pyro DMG Bonus and their weapons are infused with Pyro. Many will recommend not to active his sixth constellation because this will drastically change his playstyle. Bennett can be obtained from the Standard Wish banner, and featured Character Event Wish banners.
Being a 4-star character, Bennett is a unit that can fit into any team and one of the must-have characters in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact is available to play on PC, Playstation, and Mobile devices.
