Created by Behaviour Interactive, Dead By Daylight is a survival horror multiplayer game released in 2016 that has forever changed the landscape of what a multiplayer game could be like. In Dead By Daylight, you can either play as the Killer who hunts down the Survivors for a sacrificial ritual or team up with your friends as Survivors to escape the Realms of Entity together. With that being said, the map itself plays a big role in the success of your objective – no matter whether you’re playing as the Killer or Survivor.

Through consistent updates and DLCs, DBD has introduced over 30 maps to the players as of 2022. In this guide, we will be focusing on the maps that are designed to give Survivors the upper hand in the game over Killers. A map can be considered Survivor-sided based on how big the map is, the spread of the generators across the map, the possibility of loops in the map – basically everything that will help the Survivors escape the trial grounds and from the hands of the Killer.

In this guide, we have listed our top 10 picks for the best maps for Survivors in Dead by Daylight as of 2022.

10. Coldwind Farm – Fractured Cowshed

Fractured Cowshed is one of the five Coldwind Farm maps present in Dead By Daylight, and it is also the 8th largest map in the game. With that being said, it is one of the best Survivor-sided maps in our list, as this map is fairly difficult for the Killer to coordinate. That’s due to the map’s massive structure, along with infinite loops at the edges of the map, as well as a large number of objects such as hay and corn spread throughout the entire map.

In short, there is just too much going on on the map. This shifts the game in favor of the Survivors as Killers have a hard time locating Survivors and generators through the corn and it also makes chasing Survivors difficult with too many obstructions in the way. The gen-spread of the map is quite a Survivor friendly. Not only that, but there are also plenty of safe looping opportunities for the players playing as Survivors in the main barn. Not to mention, the long carts at the edge of the map are also great for looping.

9. Foresaken Boneyard – Eyrie of Crows

Eyrie of Crows is the only map in the Realm of Foresaken Boneyard. Apart from that, in terms of size, this too stands to be the 8th largest map in the game as of now. In addition to that, this is one of the well-lit realms in the game, making it easier for the Survivors to navigate themselves across the map. Not only that, the open area allows for you to spot the Killer approaching you from far away. However, it also means that you’ll have fewer places to hide from the Killer, and the open spaces make it easier for Killer to spot you as well.

Furthermore, the generators are also spread across the corners of the map, with plenty of looping opportunities. However, loops are the safest towards the center of the map – both inside and outside the main building. With that being said, you can practically engage in an infinite loop in the main building, with the Killer never being able to catch up to you. This map is definitely recommended if you’re playing DBD as a Survivor.

8. Red Forest – Temple of Purgation

The Temple of Purgation is one of the two maps present in the Realm of Red Forest. The main structure of this map is obviously the temple. In terms of aesthetics, this map is quite nice looking, and you’ll find quite a number of pallets within this map. And this map also has a lot of vast areas that make for long chases. Not to mention, the multi-storeyed temple has quite a few looping areas, primarily in the lower levels.

However, you’ll find relatively safe looping opportunities in the floors above as well. What’s best about this map is that it only has one Generator inside the temple, and when completed, it will open all the exit gates for you to escape through. However, if the basement spawns within the temple itself, the match could shift in favor of the Killer as unhooking teammates from there becomes an impossible feat.

7. Backwater Swamp – Grim Pantry

Grim Pantry is one of two maps present in Backwater Swamp. This map isn’t particularly well-lit; however, it does have some features that make it more Survivor-favored. To begin with, this map’s main structure is the pantry, which has ample looping opportunities for players playing as Survivors. Then there is the pier and the small pantry which are also great structures for looping around.

In addition to that, the map also has tall grass around the structures, which allows players to hide from the Killer, and also obstructs the Killer’s vision. However, that also means that Killers can easily set traps for Survivors. Furthermore, Killers can also make use of tight spaces to catch Survivors off guard. Not to mention, totems are hard to locate on this particular map due to the environment.

6. Grave of Glenvale – Dead Dawg Saloon

The Dead Dawg Saloon is the only map in the Realm of Grave of Glenvale. The core structure of this map is the Saloon itself, which has some pretty solid loops for Survivors to indulge in. Moreover, structures such as gallows and windmills can also be used for looping. The map is on the smaller side, with generators placed within close proximity of each other.

What’s great about this map is that objectives more or less spawn more or less in the same location, so if you’re familiar with the map, you’ll be easily able to navigate your way towards generators and totems. Furthermore, there are plenty of hiding spots for the Survivors. Not only that, but there are also wide open sightlines that you can use to spot the Killer.

5. Ormond – Mount Ormond Resort

Mount Ormond Resort is the only map featured in the Ormond Realm. With that being said, this is also one of the 8th largest maps present in Dead By Daylight. The vast structure of the ski resort along with the square shape of the map makes it extremely hard for the Killer to control and coordinate. This map is extremely Survivor-sided, with gens spawning across the corners of the map. Furthermore, there are also tons of loops on the outskirts of the map.

There are also many safe pallets and structures featured within the resort, making it very loop-able. This makes the inn great for chaining loops. Not to mention, this map is on the brighter side, so players have an easy time navigating their way across the resort and spot the Killer when working on a generator. Furthermore, there are plenty of places for you to hide when playing as the Survivor. Overall, this map is extremely favorable to play in as the Survivor.

4. Yamaoka Estate – Family Residence

Family Residence is one of the two maps introduced in the Realm of Yamaoka Estate. The main structure of this map is obviously the house or “family residence.” This is an extremely Survivor sided map, given a large number of hiding spots present in the map.

There are barely any sightlines, and players playing as Survivors can easily blend themselves within the surrounding environment, such as bamboos and reeds, without any cosmetics camouflaging. The map’s shape and the residence’s structure make it relatively easy for the Survivor to navigate.

3. Red Forest – Mother’s Dwelling

Mother’s Dwelling is the second map from the Red Forest realm. It is thus far the largest map introduced in Dead By Daylight and is pretty Survivor-sided. This map is vast and riddled with obstructions, making it difficult for Killers to control and coordinate. The generators are mostly situated near the edge of the map, with each being extremely further apart from the other. This makes it incredibly difficult for the Killer to pressure the generators.

Not to mention, the sheer amount of running that the Killer has to do in order to cover all ground and patrol the generators being worked on by Survivors is too time-consuming. Moreover, all the obstructions make it difficult for Killer to start chases. On the other hand, Survivors can infinitely loop with the way the structures are placed within the map. This is one of the maps that simply becomes too overwhelming for Killers to play in and is easily one of the best Survivor maps in Dead by Daylight.

2. Autohaven Wreckers – Gas Heaven

Gas Heaven is one of the five maps featured within the Realm of Autohaven Wreckers. Not to mention, it is the 5th largest map in Dead By Daylight as of 2022. Like all large maps, this too is favored towards Survivors. The core structure of the map is the Gas station, but most generators and safe places for loops are located towards the outskirts of the map. The structures on the outside can be used to create chain loops, making it a nightmare for Killers. But even within the gas station, there are plenty of safe areas for Survivors.

Not to mention, the map has a pretty clear layout, and generators are also quite easy to locate within this map. Furthermore, the spread of the generators is also quite Survivor-friendly. There are also broken-down cars spread across the map, which act as walls, making it difficult for Killers to spot you when working on generators or cleansing totems. The line of sight is cut short for Killers, and players also have ample opportunities to keep on looping around endlessly – making it one of the best maps for Survivors.

1. Haddonfield – Lampkin Lane

Lampkin Lane is the only map featured in the Realm of Haddonfield. It is a vast, square-shaped map that is entirely Survivor-sided. You can engage in infinite loops thanks to the structures placed all around the map’s street. Not only that, but the houses themselves have multiple entrances and exits, making it very easy to draw the Killer and start a loop where they can never catch up to you. This is one of the maps that is considered to be an absolute nightmare for Killers.

Furthermore, the way that the generators are spread in this map is also quite Survivor-sided. Due to the vast size and the maze-like structure, Killers have a hard time pressuring the generators. The houses are usually multi-storeyed, with generators being placed on the second floor. This makes it incredibly difficult for the Killers to reach the generators in time to hit or hook the Survivors. The way that the houses are placed on the map makes it incredibly difficult for Killers to start successful chases, and Survivors usually escape unscathed. That’s what makes this the best map for Survivors in Dead By Daylight.
