VALORANT has recently launched a new story series called Formation Stories. These primarily aim to give players the spotlight and solicit feedback on their gaming experiences.

VALORANT’s first Formation story focuses on Poiz, more popularly known as DOINKMACHINE97. Previously, Valorant had a ranked ladder where people would only know their rank and the highest was radiant. But Riot decided to make a ranking system within that to separate the best players from the outstanding ones.

After revealing these rankings, many pro faces were seen like Tenz. But one question started to arise about the 2nd ranked player as it was a mystery.

Poiz had played on accounts under different aliases like DOINKMACHINE97, bladestorm, and shadowGOD399, all of which secured spots within the top 25 in the NA ladder. This is a testament to his skill and also shows his consistency.

VALORANT decided to publish their first Formation Story based on Poiz. He has been asked questions about his journey to the top of the leaderboard. It has been known he was a former Overwatch player, and since he played hitscan, VALORANT intrigued him a lot. The full article can be read here.

People generally think ladder players can only perform well against other scattered ladder players. They also think when put against a proper team, they won’t be able to perform as well. But Poiz would like to prove them wrong.

“A lot of people say ranked skill doesn’t really translate to tournament skill. So hopefully I can prove people wrong,” Poiz said, referring to his current trajectory to play on a tier 1 esports team.

Team games require much more nerves and experience. But under proper guidance and playing under a cooperative team, Poiz can definitely make it out to be a skilled professional player following his goal.
