According to recent reports, The game industry giant Sony Interactive is acquiring Bungie for a whopping $3.6 Billion.
Bungie is an American video game developer company. It was initially famous for creating the first Halo game and thus created the Halo Franchise. Later, Bungie signed a ten-year publishing deal with Activision and became widely known as the creator of the Destiny franchise. At first, Bungie created Destiny, and in 2017 Destiny 2, which is currently one of the most popular f2p first-person looter shooter games out there.
Just recently, some reports started coming in that a deal was taking place between Sony and Bungie. According to the reports, Sony was acquiring Bungie in a massive deal. Jason Schreier made a Twitter post breaking the news. He wrote,
“BREAKING: Sony is buying Bungie, the maker of Destiny — another seismic gaming deal that comes just two weeks after Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard.
Bungie put Xbox on the map. Now it’s part of PlayStation Studios. Filed to Bloomberg Terminal, hitting web soon”
According to reports from gameindustry.biz, the deal between Sony and Bungie is supposedly going to transfer around $3.6 Billion.
GameIndustry.biz also reported that Bungie will become an independent subsidiary of Sony run by a board of directors.
“After the deal closes, Bungie will be “an independent subsidiary” of SIE run by a board of directors consisting of current CEO and chairman Pete Parsons and the rest of the studio’s current management team.”
