Dan Houser, the Co-Founder and Ex-Vice President of Creativity at Rockstar Games left Rockstar in March of 2020. He has now registered for a new video game development studio named Absurd Ventures in Games.
Dan Houser founded Rockstar Games with his brother Sam Houser in 1998. He has worked as the creative lead on two of the studio’s biggest hits – Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Moreover, he has also worked on Bully and Max Payne 3.
Dan Houser took an extended break shortly after Red Dead Redemption 2’s release. He then announced that he is stepping down from his position at Rockstar Games. Now, he has registered the name of his brand new studio called Absurd Ventures in Games in the United Kingdom.
As per the Companies House Listing, the company had been incorporated on June 23rd of 2021. Under the Nature of Business (SIC) section, Absurd Ventures in Games has been listed as a “62011 – Ready-made interactive leisure and entertainment software development”.
Moreover, as per the listing, Dan Houser’s role in the venture has been classified as Director. Furthermore, under the Nature of Control section, Houser has 75% or more Ownership of shares, 75% or more of Ownership of voting rights, and the right to appoint and remove directors. However, the listing does not specify any other staff at the moment.
Currently, Sam Houser is in charge of Rockstar Games. As many of us hope, the company is likely working on GTA 6 at the moment. However, not much is known regarding what Dan Houser is working on. Although there is not much information out there, we can hope to see some amazing titles being developed by Absurd Ventures in the future.
