Resident Evil 4 Remake has a handful of shotguns, but which one is the best? You will find out in this article!
Resident Evil 4 Remake has been a mostly faithful recreation of the old game, including all of its weapons. This game had a lot of weapons for the players to choose from, and the new version of the game keeps that variety. So it gives players different weapons to choose from. Of course, not all the weapons can be picked up from the map; you will also have to buy some from the merchant.
The shotgun is one of the best crowd-control weapons in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Depending on the weapon, they can have a large or tight spread. So depending on your play style, you may prefer one or the other. However, we have our list of the best shotguns, which will help you choose the best one for your playthrough.

Best Shotgun in Resident Evil 4 Remake
There are four different shotguns you can get in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Among the four, three are unlockable by just playing the game, while the fourth one is a paid DLC. But the paid shotgun is nothing crazy compared to the other ones, so you can rest easy even if you don’t have it in the game.
For this list of the best shotguns, we have selected two different ones based on the player’s playstyle and effectiveness. These are The Striker and The Riot Gun. Let’s break down each weapon and why it could be the best shotgun for your play style.
STRIKER for Close Range
Striker is the best shotgun if you are using it for a close-range fight. This is a fully automatic shotgun with a maximum of 48 ammo capacity. That means you will not have to reload the weapon during any fight. The Striker has a bigger spread than the other shotgun making it ideal for shooting into the crowd or a close-range fight.
The power starts at 9 and can reach 16.2 at the max level. Its exclusive upgrade focuses on the weapon’s ammo capacity. Thus, this is the maximum power you will be able to get with this weapon. Making things more fun is the fire rate. This thing has a fast fire rate to complement the high ammo capacity. So it is really fun to use this weapon on rapid fire.
If you want a shotgun that is good for crowd control or one on one close range fights, the Striker will not disappoint. Just keep the ammo in mind, as it is pretty fun to rapid-fire; you will run out of ammo if you are not careful with this weapon. You buy this gun from the merchant from chapter 10 onwards.
RIOT GUN for More Range
Riot Gun is a shotgun focused on the range. This is a good choice if you don’t always want to be up close and personal with the shotgun. The range, paired with a tighter spread, makes it a pretty good combo for a longer-range shotgun. However, it is still a shotgun, so don’t expect a crazy range like a handgun or rifle.
The riot gun starts from 6.40 power and can go all the way up to 12.8 with maximum normal upgrades. But you can take it a bit further with the exclusive upgrade of the weapon. The exclusive upgrade of this weapon increases the power by 1.5x. So with this exclusive upgrade, the weapon power will reach a good 19.2, which is more the Striker.
Even though it has better power after its exclusive upgrade, this upgrade is hard to get as you need to max everything fully out of the weapon for the exclusive to unlock. Before getting exclusive, the Striker is a better option in terms of power.
Also, since this shotgun is focused more on a range and not too close of a range, the rate of fire is not as fast as the previous weapon. So, in the end, if you don’t want to get too close to your target, the riot gun is a good choice. You can buy this weapon from the merchant from chapter 6 onwards.
