Best Handgun in Resident Evil 4 Remake
There are five different handguns you can have in Resident Evil 4 Remake. You start with one of them and then get the others by various means on your playthrough. Many of them have a different specialty that makes them good. However, not all of them are good in all situations. So here is a list ranking all the Handguns from worst to best.
5. Punisher
Punisher is a handgun focused on enemy penetration. The bullet from this handgun can penetrate through enemies to hit multiple simultaneously. So the strong suit of this handgun is its crowd control capability. It has decent power and accuracy, but other guns will outshine this one in terms of row power. Thus the Punisher is the lowest in the list of the best handguns.
4. Matilda
Matilda is a decent handgun with a focus on the rate of fire. This weapon can fire so fast that you can compare it to the TMP sub-machine gun. With this fast fire rate, it also has a big ammo capacity. So if you want a handgun that can be passed as a submachine gun, this is for you. But the downside of this weapon is the ammo.
Resident Evil 4 Remake gives you a lot of ammo, but if you are not careful, you will run out of ammo. So while using Matilda, you must actively stop using too much ammo because of its high fire rate.
3. SG-09 R
This is your starting handgun in Resident Evil 4 Remake. This has decent power and a bit less accuracy than the Punisher. However, this weapon is really good for blowing up enemy heads, especially if you do the exclusive upgrade. This is, overall, an ok weapon to use for most of the game. However, if you find yourself hitting a lot of headshots on the enemies, you may consider upgrading this weapon and using it.
The upgrades do help the weapon become a bit better. But the exclusive upgrade increases the crit hit rate 5x. This makes it hit critical shots more. As a result, you will be blowing up heads left and right when you use this weapon with its exclusive upgrade.
2. Blacktail
This is one of the best handguns you will find in the game. This gun is very powerful and has decent accuracy. However, it has a lower ammo capacity than the rest of the guns. So you will need to reload more often. But the power it provides is nothing but spectacular. So this weapon is an evenly rounded good weapon to use in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
1. Red 9
Red 9 is the fan-favorite handgun of the original Resident Evil 4. And in the Remake, it is still the best gun you will get your hands on. The power of this weapon is comparable to Blacktail at the lowest level. But with the upgrade, this weapon will get more power than the Blacktail. The ammo capacity of this weapon is better than the Blacktail too.
But this gun isn’t as accurate as the Blacktail. However, you can buy the laser sight and stock from the merchant to improve its accuracy. So there aren’t many downsides to using this weapon. You also get the Red 9 fairly early in the game, even before you reach Ashly. So, if you are looking for the best handgun in Resident Evil 4, pick this up and max out the upgrades. You will not regret the investment.
