A Recent Leak on Twitter has revealed that weapon attachments/mods could be coming to Fortnite in the future.
Since the beginning of Fortnite, Epic Games has been actively introducing new maps, weapons, and mechanics to keep the game fresh. The introduction of new things keeps players playing for a long time. Adding new weapons and making map changes is very common nowadays for Epic Games but new game mechanics are a little bit challenging to implement. But still, Epic Games has made changes to a lot of old mechanics and introduced new mechanics to make the game feel different and new.
It looks like Epic Games is once again trying to introduce new weapon mechanics into the game.

Fortnite weapon mods/attachments:
Other battle royale games like Apex Legends, Warzone, and PUBG have a lot of weapon attachments. You can turn a normal weapon into a silenced weapon by attaching a silencer at the front. You can also add long-range scopes and larger magazine attachments.
But Fortnite does not have any weapon attachments/mods currently. Normal assault rifles and silenced assault rifles are different guns in Fortnite. You cannot attach a silencer to a normal assault to turn it into a silenced one like other games. But seems like that could soon change as Epic Games is supposedly working on weapon mods/ attachments.
A renowned leaker called HYPEX shared a leak about a new weapon mechanic that Epic is currently working on. According to the tweet, Epic has started testing weapon mod slots. Weapons might have mod slots and players can appoint different mods in these slots to change the behaviors of the guns.
He said, “We might get a new weapons mechanic at some point, epic started testing a new thing called “Weapon Mod Slots” lately and it seems like it gives the weapon abilities/attachments.”
HYPEX however did not confirm any date for when we might get the new weapon mechanics as they are probably in the early stages of testing. This will definitely improve the overall experience of Fortnite players and make the game feel fresh and new like always.
