But now it seems the gaming giant wants it all gone.
Even though the custom PlayStation 5 faceplates would’ve sold like hotcakes. Giving the brand a lot of money too.
The company says that they will instead focus on legal skins and products etc.
The decision by Sony will surely disappoint fans. In fact, the idea of personal faceplates has been circulating ever since the PS5 was unveiled. In the teardown video, we saw that the faceplates easily came off. So, the idea of a personal touch to the PlayStation 5 was a sweet one.
Sony only showed off one color of the PlayStation 5; white. We are hoping there will be more colors to choose from in the future, eventually. Or, we will see some beautiful 3rd party options.
The PlayStation 5 faceplate had a $39.99. Additionally, the hard shells were to be manufactured using “premium industry standard plastic”. A shame; it sounds as if the custom plates would’ve been a game-changer.
