Recently an individual has found some GTA 6 weapon references while browsing through games files of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Grand Theft Auto 5 came out in September of 2013. It has been more than 7 years since then. GTA online which is the multiplayer version of GTA 5 is still popular to this day. GTA Online has over 80,000 concurrent players on Steam and it always stays as the top ten games on Steam.
But players have been growing tired of GTA 5 and want Rockstar to release GTA 6 which many people think will be the biggest and the greatest open-world game of all time. And after the buggy launch of Cyberpunk 2077, the expectations for GTA 6 has only increased.
Since many years ago players have been looking for leaks regarding GTA 6. Just a few months ago the whole internet was shaken up at the news of the GTA 6 map’s supposed leak. So any new info or leak regarding GTA 6 brings hope to the people who have been patiently waiting for GTA 6 to come out one day.
Now it looks like an individual has found some GTA 6 weapon references in Red Dead Redemption 2 game files.
GTA 6 weapon reference in RDR2:
A user by the name of DerekLeet posted on gtaforums.com about his findings. He claims that he found a reference to two GTA 6 guns in Red Dead Redemption 2 files. DerekLeet apparently found these in an RDR2 file called propsets.meta, under “common_0.rpf/data/ai”. He also shared some images to support his claims.
The three weapons that Derek found in the game files are “W_AR_AK47”, “W_J_L1A1”, “W_J_BROWNING”. Among these, the “W_AR_AK47”, and “W_J_L1A1” are rifles and the “W_J_BROWNING” is a pistol.
According to DerekLeet, these weapon references are not found anywhere else in the game files of Red Dead Redemption 2.
These are not from GTA 5 as these weapons use totally different names there. Derek showed us that these weapon names cannot be found in GTA 5 files.
In the first image, we can see that there is no weapon in GTA 5 called “W_AR_AK47”, or the “W_J_L1A1”. The AK47 is referenced in GTA 5 as “W_AR_ASSAULTRIFLE”.
Also, there is no weapon in GTA 5 called “W_J_BROWNING” as evident by the image below.
These weapon references have apparently been in the Red Dead Redemption 2 files since its release on consoles.
Take all of the things mentioned above with a grain of salt as these are just leaks and speculations without any definite proof. But these weapons could very well be used by Rockstar to test the guns in Red Dead Redemption 2 for the upcoming GTA 6.
