Players can still use punch boosting in Apex Legends after the season 12 update

Punchboosting is still a viable option for players even after the season 12 update in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends is a first-person shooter battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Initially launched back in February 2019, Apex Legends has become one of the most prominent battle royale games in the market.

The popular battle royale title has hero-based abilities and extremely fast-paced gameplay. To achieve victory, players will fight solo or in teams of 3 against other players in a battle to be the last ones standing.

Respawn Entertainment usually brings major changes to the game with new seasonal updates. The most recent update was Season 12 Defiance. One of the most awaited changes was the fix for punch boosting.

Punchboosting Still Exists

What is punch boosting? In Apex Legends, the movement is already very rapid and smooth. But with this movement exploit, players were able to abuse a bug to gain additional momentum. To perform a perfect punch boost, players had to crouch and move backward on an inclined surface while performing a punch at specific intervals. It was that simple.

Punchboosting granted players incredible levels of boost in movement, which was clearly an unfair advantage. Thus, in their season 12 patch notes, Respawn Entertainment announced that they would move it from the game altogether.

But even after their official statement and seasonal update, players are still able to use punch boosting. For example, popular Apex Legends content creator Monkeysniper revealed that the punch boosting exploit wasn’t removed entirely.

To perform a punch boost in the new update, players had to jump and punch the surface right before landing on it to obtain the boost while being on an inclined surface, although the process is more complicated than before. With enough practice, players can perform it consistently.

Everyone is eager to see how Respawn will deal with this situation. Let’s hope that this bug will soon be entirely fixed in a future patch.
