Plague Inc. are adding a new game mode where players have to stop an outbreak

They've also donated $250,000 to combat COVID-19

Developed by Ndemic Creations, Plague Inc. is a real-time strategy game, where players create a virus and spread it across the world to end humanity. However, with the current COVID-19 situation, players won’t be comfortable in spreading a new deadly virus in a virtual world. So, the developers have decided to come out with a new game mode instead, where players now have to save the world from a deadly virus.

The new game mode is being developed “with the help of experts from the World Health Organisation.” In it, players will manage the disease progression, healthcare systems as well as make their citizens practice social distancing.

“Eight years ago, I never imagined the real world would come to resemble a game of Plague Inc. or that so many players would be using Plague Inc. to help them get through an actual pandemic,” said James Vaughan, creator of Plague Inc. “We are proud to be able to help support the vital work of the WHO and CEPI as they work towards finding a vaccine for COVID-19”.

The creators of Plague Inc. have also donated $250,000 to help in the fight against coronavirus. The donation will be split between two groups Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, according to the website.

Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Plague Inc. has seen larges surges of new players. And the new update will also be free for all the players, during the pandemic. However, there is no exact release date as of now, so stay on the lookout for that.
