Faker is undoubtedly one of the most mechanically gifted Esports players in the world. At the height of his career, he was and is still being considered the best mid-Laner of all time in League of Legends.
So, it comes as no surprise that China offered him $10m dollars to join the Tencent League of Legends Pro League(LPL). Not only that North America seems to have given him a blank check to literally name his price. During an interview in a Korean show, he claimed that he didn’t know the entire details of the contract. But later he said that he was pretty sure that NA did give him a blank check.
Faker is revered as one of the great at the game. So, no one was really surprised that LPL and NA literally fought over him. Rather than receiving that huge chunk of money as his reward he decided to play for South Korea. He didn’t want to disappoint established fans and org that has been supporting him since the beginning of his career. He wanted to do what was best for his fans and continued to play for Korea.

By this point, it is really clear that Faker really appreciates his fans and supporters alike. Any other pro gamer at his place would have taken the money and move out of the country but not him. He stayed and stayed loyal to his own fanbase and org the whole time. While the host asked him about the blank check during the interview he giggled. Another host then claimed that Faker must be really proud of that moment nonetheless.
Faker will always be an icon in the League of Legends Esports scene. even though he had some rough patches lately we can hope that he will soon be back better than ever before.
