Mad Maggie is Not the Top Pick After the Apex Legends 12 Update

Apex Legends’ newest character, Mad Maggie, released with the Season 12 Defiance update, falls behind Octane and Wraith in terms of pick rate.

Apex Legends is currently one of the most popular hero-based first-person shooter battle royale games in the market right now. Having been launched in February 2019, the title has made quite a name for itself in the battle royale genre of games thanks to its unique mechanics and fast-paced gameplay.

Every three months or so, developers of Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment, introduce a new seasonal update to the game. These updates are usually significant in size and contain a lot of new changes, including the introduction of new Legends. In season 12, Apex received a new Legend called Mad Maggie.

Mad Maggie Not Meeting Expectations?

After the Season 12 Defiance update, players were initially disappointed with Respawn. This was due to the failure to fix the punch-boosting situation and deceiving the community into thinking that tap-strafing would also be resolved with the same update.

Even after all mishaps, the launch of Mad Maggie seemed to be going well for the game until the first week’s stats regarding legend pick rate were revealed.

Usually, history shows us that the newly released legends always have the highest pick rate for the first week after the launch. But after the Season 12 Defiance update where Mad Maggie was inaugurated, the legend ranked third in terms of pick rate in the first week.

According to many players in the Apex community, Mad Maggie’s abilities aren’t that flashy or easy to master. In addition, the legend’s optimal output depends on the entire team’s synergy. Thus, resulting in an overall lesser pick in the opening week.

Most players have shared similar opinions about Apex Legends’ newest commencement. Even though the Legend might not be the highest pick on the first week, once the learning curve kicks in, we can expect to see an increase in the pick rate.
