League of Legends Support Tier List: Best Champions to Play in Patch 12.7

In League of Legends, deciding which support to pick depends on a lot of things like team comp, synergy with ADC, and most importantly, the current meta. So let’s take a look at the best support champions for patch 12.7.

There are 3 main support types or classes in League of Legends; Enchanters, Engagers and Poke. Unless a specific champion gets targeted buffs or nerfs, it is the items that mainly determine the support meta. For instance, if an enchanter item gets buffed, all enchanter supports become stronger.

Season 12 saw the rise of enchanters again. From the start of the season, enchanters have been pretty strong. And, they are still on top in 12.7. Enchanters are the way to go right now if you want to climb in ranks. Even other enchanters like Renata Glasc, Nami, and Lulu all have high win rates.

With so many enchanters doing so well and Janna, Sona, and Soraka having unhealthy win rates, we feel like an enchanter or Janna nerf is imminent. But we have been expecting that for a couple of patches now. So if you like playing enchanters, now is the time to climb. Or you can also pick supports like Blitzcrank and Nautilus that can ruin the day of those enchanters by landing good hooks. But try to close out quickly because enchanters usually scale very well into the late game.

Best Support Champions in Patch 12.7

S-Tier

Soraka

Soraka can be frustrating to play against as she can heal her allies for a ridiculous amount. And Soraka can now fit Warmog’s Armor into her build which not only makes her tanky but also lets her generate health quickly. On top of that, Soraka’s W has a cooldown of 2 seconds if you max it. And with cooldown reduction, it can get close to 1 second.

  • Keystone: Summon Aery
  • Core Build: Moonstone Renewer > Redemption > Warmogs Armor

Renata Glasc

Renata Glasc is the newest champion in League of Legends. She is another enchanter-type champion who saw a lot of popularity and success after her release in 12.4. Riot, however, did also release a hotfix to nerf her a little. Having more than a 53% win rate, she is very strong right now

  • Keystone: Guardian
  • Core Build: Shurelya’s Battlesong > Chemtech Purifier/Redemption

Blitzcrank

Blitzcrank didn’t get any buffs this season; rather, he got a slight nerf in 12.4. So you may ask why is Blitzcrank so strong suddenly. Well, the main reason is Blitzcrank can punish the squishy enchanter champions that are rampaging rift right now. One good pull, and you can kill a Sona or Soraka. And with Glacial Augment slow, Blitzcrank is pretty strong right now against the popular champions.

  • Keystone: Glacial Augment
  • Core Build: Locket of the Iron Solari > Zeke’s Convergence

Senna

ADC senna got nerfed in patch 12.3, affecting her mist collection. This sent Senna back to support, where she is pretty strong. Her Q now slows for 20% as well (added in patch 12.2). Although she is not an enchanter, Senna is just flat-out strong and also scales greatly into the late game.

  • Keystone: Fleet Footwork
  • Core Build: Eclipse > Manamune

Lulu

Lulu is an obnoxious champion to play against. Her ability to keep her carries safe is unmatched. Lulu may not have the best win rate compared to other enchanters; she is stronger than her win rate suggests. Pair her up with a hyperscaling ADC like Jinx, Tristana, Twitch, or Kogmaw, and she can easily carry team fights.

  • Keystone: Summon Aery
  • Core Build: Shurelya’s Battlesong > Chemtech Purifier

Nautilus

Nautilus is another champion that can punish enchanters if they make any mistakes. But in that regard, Nautilus is slightly behind Blitzcrank as he can not make picks that fast. But overall, Nautilus is an engager support that provides an insane amount of crowd control and peels for the team.

  • Keystone: Aftershock
  • Core Build: Locket of the Iron Solari > Zeke’s Convergence

A-Tier

Janna

Janna

Janna has been pretty strong after her massive buff in Patch 12.2. Then Riot nerfed her in patch 12.3 to make her balanced. But after going down in win rate a little bit, she once again has almost a 54% win rate. This is not healthy for the League of Legends rank system, and we should expect another nerf coming her way soon.

  • Keystone: Glacial Augment
  • Core Build: Moonstone Renewer > Redemption/Chemtech Purifier

Nami

Nami is another strong enchanter doing really well right now, especially with Lucian. She has a 51% win rate. That shows how strong she is. Nami has everything from sustain to a bit of poke, as well as a great disengage ultimate.

  • Keystone: Summon Aery
  • Core Build: Imperial Mandate > Chemtech Purifier

Sona

Sona

Nothing more to say than she is another good enchanter support with a very high win rate. Sona can build Archangel’s Staff, giving her a ton of mana to spam out her abilities. She is also very strong in the late game. But she is not as strong as Janna or Soraka at the moment.

  • Keystone: Summon Aery
  • Core Build: Moonstone Renewer > Archangel’s Staff

B-Tier

  • Zilean
  • Zyra
  • Bard
  • Rell
  • Maokai
  • Rakan
  • Pyke

Champions in this tier are still very strong. All of them have over 50% win rate. Rell, Bard, and Zilean are a little harder to play. So if you can play these champions, you can still win your lane easily.

C-Tier

  • Neeko
  • Yummi
  • Ashe
  • Vel’koz
  • Alistar
  • Galio
  • Veigar
  • Sett
  • Swain
  • Tahm Kench
  • Xerath
  • Seraphine
  • Shaco
  • Taric
  • Brand

There are a lot of champions here. Some of them have horrible win rates, while some are decent. See these as situational champions. They can be average but can also be countered by a lot of the meta champions. So you need to understand the best situation to pick them.

D-Tier

  • Miss Fortune
  • Twitch
  • Braum

Braum is the only actual support here, the other two are just here for trolling.

F-Tier

  • Lux
  • Leona
  • Thresh
  • Morgana
  • Karma
  • Pantheon

Again these champions have horrible win rates; Leona and Thresh get countered heavily by the supports in higher tiers.
