Judgment Franchise coming to an Abrupt End due to PC Release Dispute

It seems that SEGA and Judgement star Takuya Kimura’s talent agency cannot agree on bringing Judgement on PC. As a result of this dispute, Lost Judgement will be the last instalment in the Judgement Franchise.

SEGA’s Judgement’s lead protagonist is the famous Japanese star Takuya Kimura. One might have thought that the star’s talent agency would only concern itself with payment negotiations and schedule availability when it comes to dealing with the Videogame industry. However, that assumption has proved to be wrong.

SEGA has just recently announced Lost Judgement, which is a sequel of their hit Judgement franchise starring Takuya Kimura. According to a report published by Japanese Showbiz news portal Nikkan Taishu, SEGA seemingly wanted to release Lost Judgement on PC. However, the actor’s talent agency disapproved of this decision due to their strict policies.

According to Jhonny’s Portraiture Right Policy, SEGA is not allowed to release the game on a platform like PC that is not primarily a game console and can be connected to the internet. However, this is not the only time Johnny & Associates have been strict regarding their policy.

In the past, the talent agency barred journalists from publishing photos of their actors on the internet. Regarding the dispute with SEGA, the report stated:

“Those on the side of the game developer and those on the side of Johnny’s are said to have been unable to reach an agreement regarding the platforms to sell the game.”

As a result of this disagreement, SEGA has found it difficult to continue business with Takuya Kimura and his talent agency. Although Kimura himself was saddened by the decision, Lost Judgement will likely be the last instalment in the Judgement franchise.
