Here is an updated build guide for Keqing, one of the first Main DPS characters in Genshin Impact.
Keqing is a playable 5-star Electro sword character in Genshin Impact. As the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing, she is someone who seeks her own answers instead of idly letting chaos run amok in Liyue. Instead of letting the gods determine her fate, she chooses her own path with her own power and ability.
Keqing is one of the first 5-star characters introduced to Genshin Impact. She is an Electro Main DPS character and one of the first DPS characters to appear in the game, alongside Diluc. Players can obtain Keqing from the Standard and Character Event banners. Even though she is an Electro DPS character, Keqing can also be played as a Physical DPS and is one of the best free-to-play friendly characters to build in terms of weapons and artifacts.
Below is a comprehensive build guide for Keqing, one of the best Electro characters in Genshin Impact.

Keqing Build Guide
Talents
Normal Attack: Yunlai Swordsmanship
Normal Attack: Performs up to five consecutive strikes.
Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to unleash 2 rapid sword strikes.
Plunging Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
Elemental Skill: Stellar Restoration
Hurls a Lightning Stiletto that annihilates her opponents like the swift thunder.
When the Stiletto hits its target, it deals Electro DMG to opponents in a small AoE, and places a Stiletto Mark on the spot hit.
Hold
Hold to adjust the direction in which the Stiletto shall be thrown.
Stilettos thrown by the Hold attack mode can be suspended in mid-air, allowing Keqing to jump to them when using Stellar Restoration a second time.
Lightning Stiletto
If Keqing uses Stellar Restoration again or uses a Charged Attack while its duration lasts, it will clear the Stiletto Mark and produce different effects:
- If she uses Stellar Restoration again, she will blink to the location of the Mark and unleash one slashing attack that deals AoE Electro DMG. When blinking to a Stiletto that was thrown from a Holding attack, Keqing can leap across obstructing terrain.
- If Keqing uses a Charged Attack, she will ignite a series of thundering cuts at the Mark’s location, dealing AoE Electro DMG.
Elemental Burst: Starward Sword
Keqing unleashes the power of lightning, dealing Electro DMG in an AOE.
She then blends into the shadow of her blade, striking a series of thunderclap-blows to nearby opponents simultaneously that deal multiple instances of Electro DMG.
The final attack deals massive AoE Electro DMG.
Passive Talents
Thundering Penance
After recasting Stellar Restoration while a Lightning Stiletto is present, Keqing’s weapon gains an Electro Infusion for 5s.
Aristocratic Dignity
When casting Starward Sword, Keqing’s CRIT Rate is increased by 15%, and her Energy Recharge is increased by 15%. This effect lasts for 8s.

Playstyle
Keqing is a very unique DPS character in Genshin Impact, capable of being played as both Physical and Electro DPS.
The first question that most players ask after they get Keqing is, “Should I build Keqing Physical or Electro?”
To answer that question, Physical Keqing is easier to build early on because you have access to a Prototype Rancour at Adventure Rank 10 or if you get an Aquila Favonia which should help you through the early parts of the game. As you progress, if you get a Lion’s Roar or The Black Sword from the Battle Pass, it is better to transform into Electro Keqing.
For a Physical Keqing build, 4-piece Pale Flame is excellent, or you can equip her with 2-piece Pale Flame and 2-piece Bloodstained Chivalry artifact sets. For an Electro build, players should use 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale and 2-piece Thundering Fury or 4-piece Thundersoother artifact sets.
Keqing’s charged attacks are her primary source of damage in combat and have a 25 stamina cost which is the highest among sword characters in Genshin Impact. Keqing’s elemental skill Stellar Restoration is her best skill in combat for damage output. Her Ascension 1 talent infuses her Sword with Electro for 5 seconds after casting Stellar Restoration, which enables the sustained Electro Keqing playstyle. Recasting her skill will allow Keqing to teleport to the Stiletto and infuse her sword with Electro.
Keqing’s elemental burst, Starward Sword will initiate an Electro AoE attack, then eight consecutive strikes of AoE Electro DMG, and finally does a large slash for massive AoE Electro DMG. Her elemental burst has high multipliers, and paired with her Ascension 4 Talent; her Elemental Burst becomes a highly valuable part of her kit whether players are playing Physical or Electro Keqing.
