Here is an updated build guide for Jean, one of the best Anemo support characters in Genshin Impact.

Jean Gunnhildr is a playable 5-star Anemo sword character in Genshin Impact. Hailing from Mondstadt, she is the daughter of Frederica Gunnhildr and Seamus Pegg, the older sister of Barbara, and a descendant of the prestigious Gunnhildr Clan. Jean is the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and is always busy handling unrest across Mondstadt and tirelessly working to maintain the City of Freedom.

Jean is one of the first 5-star characters added to Genshin Impact, alongside Diluc. She is an Anemo support character and one of the best healers in the game. Players can obtain her from the Standard and Character Event banners. Even though she is considered an Anemo support character, Jean can be played as a Physical DPS or a Sub-DPS if players can build her properly, making Jean one of the most unique characters in Genshin Impact.

Below is a comprehensive build guide for Jean, one of the best Anemo support and healer in Genshin Impact.

Jean Build Guide

Talents

Normal Attack: Favonius Bladework

Normal Attack: Performs up to five consecutive strikes.

Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of stamina to launch an opponent using the power of wind.
Launched opponents will slowly fall to the ground.

Plunging Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Elemental Skill

Gale Blade

Focusing the might of the formless wind around her blade, Jean releases a miniature storm, launching opponents in the direction she aims at, dealing massive Anemo DMG.

Hold
At the cost of continued stamina consumption, Jean can command the whirlwind to pull surrounding opponents and objects towards her front.
Direction can be adjusted.
Character is immobile during skill duration.

Elemental Burst

Dandelion Breeze

Calling upon the wind’s protection, Jean creates a swirling Dandelion Field, launching surrounding opponents and dealing Anemo DMG.
At the same time, she instantly regenerates a large amount of HP for all party members. The amount of HP restored scales off Jean’s ATK.

Verdict

As we can see, Jean has several good weapons available, even if you’re a free-to-play player. Aquila Favonia is the best in slot weapon for Jean because of its high base attack and the extra Physical DMG bonus. Skyward Blade is also an excellent 5-star sword for a support Jean build because of its high energy recharge. Primordial Jade Cutter is another excellent 5-star weapon for Jean for really high CRIT Rate and passive.

Festering Desire was an event reward weapon that may not be available to newer players, but it’s a good option. Prototype Rancour is the best free-to-play option for Jean because of its high base attack and added Physical DMG bonus. Prototype Rancour is easily accessible to players because you can get one for free early into the game and one of the best 4-star swords you can get for Jean. The Black Sword is the sword from the Battle Pass, suitable for a Sub-DPS build with a high CRIT Rate. Favonius Sword is great for its high-energy recharge, and it can generate a lot of energy for your Jean and the entire team.

Playstyle

Jean is a very versatile character in Genshin Impact, capable of being played as both Physical DPS and support. Depending on her build and how she is kitted with weapons and artifacts will affect her playstyle; she can be an Anemo support and a great healer.

For a support Jean build, a 4-piece Viridescent Venerer or Noblesse Oblige artifact set will provide an attack bonus or Anemo damage bonus for Jean and her entire party. Viridescent Venerer set is good for Anemo support build to increase swirl damage. But her optimal build is a Physical DMG build with Gladiator’s Finale or Pale Flame artifact sets.

Jean can also heal your entire party with her normal attacks. Hitting enemies with your attacks will heal your party gradually at the same time. If Jean is kitted with a Physical build, she can dish out a ton of damage with her normal and charged attacks.

With her elemental skill Gale Blade, you can push enemies away to get some space or gather them together and wipe them out. Holding her skill will allow her to group up enemies and push them away. A great way to execute her skill is to use charged attacks on enemies, which will push them up in the air and use her skill to launch them up to take fall damage. Her elemental skill can also generate a lot of Anemo particles, so Jean can also be used as a battery for Anemo DPS characters like Xiao.

Jean’s elemental burst, Dandelion Breeze will create a Dandelion Field, which will deal a massive AoE Anemo damage and heal the entire party to almost full health. The healing scales off of ATK, while her ascension passive grants her increased healing power. Additionally, it will heal all party members for a huge burst amount and then heal any character standing in the field of effect on the ground over time. Enemies will take damage when they exit or enter the AoE of the burst. This ability has an energy cost of 80, which is relatively high but has a low cooldown of 20 seconds.
