Genshin Impact “Wish Upon a Lantern” Web Event has just begun. Here you can find everything you need to know about the event and also a guide on how to participate.
Mihoyo frequently organizes Genshin Impact events outside of the game to promote their socials. Previously we had the “Slime Paradise” event that offered free Primogems to players for completing certain objectives. And now they have introduced a new event called “Wish Upon a Lantern”. A total of 1 Billion Primogems will be given out during this event to be split among the player base.
Below are all the details you need to know about the Genshin Impact “Wish Upon a Lantern” web event and also how to participate in it.

Wish Upon the Lantern:
The event will have five types of Xiao Lanterns available. Once you release a type of Xiao Lantern it will light up on the event page. Players who can successfully release all five types can get a share in the 1 Billion Primogems.
Eligibility
Players who are Adventure Rank 10 and above can enter the event.
Important Dates and Time:
The event has already begun and will run until 25th February. After that, we have a finalization period of one day. Eligible Players will start getting their Primogems between 26th February to 5th March 2021.
Lantern Release Times: 2021/02/19 13:00 – 2021/02/25 23:59 (UTC+8)
Finalization Time: 2021/02/26 0:00 – 2021/02/26 19:59 (UTC+8)
Reward Collection Time: 2021/02/26 20:00 – 2021/03/04 23:59 (UTC+8)
Event Rewards:
Little Gift Box:
Every time you successfully release a new lantern you will get a gift box containing small amounts of Mora and other presents. The Little Gift Box description reads,
“Each time you release a lantern, you will receive a “Little Gift Box,” which will contain a random amount of Mora and other small presents.”
Grand Primogem Prize:
“You will be able to claim a random amount of Primogems as a reward from the main event page during the reward collection period, provided that you have lit up all five Xiao Lanterns.”
How to Participate:
As I mentioned before, it is a web-based event that is done outside the game. Below is a guide on how to enter the event.
First, you need to head over to the Official Event Page. After that, you will be prompted to use your Mihoyo account to log in. Once you successfully enter your credentials, you will be redirected to the actual event page. You might get an error saying “cannot enter, unable to find character information”. In this case, you need to enter the server your character is on.
After you successfully log in, you can see a button called “Release Lantern”. If you press this button you can then release different Xiao Lanterns based on RNG.
You can also complete additional quests to get more lanterns. These quests should be below the “Release Button”.
Third Party Account Users:
If you are using a third-party account then you need to go to https://account.mihoyo.com/, create a Mihoyo account. After that, you have to link your third-party account and Mihoyo account.
If you already have a Mihoyo account but it is unlinked then you also need to go to https://account.mihoyo.com/ and relink.
PlayStation players:
Mihoyo also shared a way for Playstation players to participate in the “Wish Upon the Lantern” event. For this, you need to,
“Open the Paimon Menu and locate the in-game mail pertaining to this event. After opening the event link, use your phone camera to scan the QR code to directly participate in the event. (If the traveler’s mobile phone cannot scan the code successfully, please try switching to a professional QR code scanning software.)”
