Here is an updated build guide for Diluc, one of the best Pyro DPS characters in Genshin Impact.
Diluc Ragnvindr is a playable 5-star Pyro claymore character hailing from Mondstadt. Born into the influential Ragnvindr Clan, Diluc is the current owner of the Dawn Winery and a nobleman of high esteem in Mondstadt. He became the youngest-ever Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius. It was his father’s wish for him to be the most esteemed knight and safeguard the City of Freedom. While a past incident caused him to split ways with the Knights of Favonius, he continued to protect Mondstadt in his way. He is also known as the Darknight Hero to the people of Mondstadt.
Diluc is the first Main DPS character introduced in Genshin Impact and can be obtained from the Standard and Character Event banners. Even almost two years later, Diluc is still one of the best Pyro characters in the game because of his unique playstyle.

Verdict
Diluc has some pretty good weapon options, including a couple of free-to-play ones. For example, Wolf’s Gravestone, a 5-star claymore that is one of the best overall weapons in the game, is the best in slot weapon for Diluc. Wolf’s Gravestone will provide a ton of ATK, which is excellent for Diluc, and it will also provide an attack boost to the rest of the party. The 4-star weapon from the battle pass, Serpent Spine, is a good alternative because of the passive and really high CRIT Rate.
Prototype Archaic is a craftable 4-star free-to-play weapon which is also great for Diluc because it has a good ATK% substat. Blackcliff Slasher, another 4-star claymore, is an excellent weapon with really high CRIT DMG that can be bought from the Paimon’s Bargain shop with Masterless Starglitter.
Skyward Pride is an excellent claymore for Diluc because of its high base ATK and energy recharge. The Unforged is an excellent 5-star weapon, but it will require a shield character paired up with Diluc for its passive to activate. Finally, Luxurious Sea-Lord is a fish-looking event weapon that is also a good weapon for Diluc.

Playstyle
Diluc’s playstyle is pretty straightforward as a main DPS character. Being a claymore character, he is comparatively slower than other DPS characters in the game, but that’s not entirely a downside of playing him. Diluc is a character that can push around enemies with his brute strength and overpower almost all enemies in the game. His combat and passive talents are designed in a way that will make you want to keep Diluc on the field.
Diluc’s build is pretty straightforward; 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set, a good claymore, and you’re done. Other than Hu Tao, Diluc is the only character who can fully maximize the bonus of the Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set.
His elemental skill Searing Onslaught, allows him to swing his claymore at opponents while infused with Pyro and deal with Pyro damage. His skill can be used three times consecutively with a maximum interval time of 3 seconds. In addition, players can use a few normal attacks with his elemental skill to do an alternating combo of physical and elemental attacks.
Dawn, Diluc’s elemental burst talent, will have him summon a Phoenix that flies forward to deal massive Pyro damage to all enemies in its path. His burst is great because it can deal an enormous amount of damage and group up many enemies in one place. After casting his elemental burst, Diluc’s claymore will be infused with Pyro, making all his attacks deal Pyro damage.
Diluc deals most of his damage by raw Pyro damage, vaporize, or melt reactions. Diluc can be paired up with Xingqiu or Chongyun for the best output, and Bennett can be used for Pyro resonance, increasing your attack by 20%. Applying Hydro or Cryo on enemies and using Diluc’s skill and burst for most damage.
Diluc can also be used as a Pyro support for Ayaka. Using Ayaka’s elemental burst and Diluc’s elemental burst is pretty lethal, and it will obliterate enemies on the field. Diluc is great as a DPS because his elemental skill and burst can be used frequently as they have a really low energy cost.
