As IEM goes on to reach its conclusion, Gambit faces OG in the Grand Finals.
Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Summer is a 2 stage Double Elimination Tournament where 16 teams from the European region will fight it out for the $250,000 USD prize pool.
The first stage of the tournament is the Group stage. There will be two double-elimination format (GSL) groups. Each group has 8 teams each. The initial matches are Best of 1 and the following matches are Best of 3.
The top 3 teams from each group will move ahead to the playoffs where group stage 1st positions will advance to the Semifinals, 2nds to the Quarterfinals as High seeds, and 3rds to the Quarterfinals as Low seeds. The Playoffs will be in a single-elimination bracket where the Quarterfinals will be best of 3 and the Grand finals best of 5.

The first map was Mirage where both teams’ scores were neck and neck in a heated first half. The second half was evenly competitive but Gambit managed to persevere managing to clinch the map.
The second map was Dust2 which started similarly to the first with OG inching ahead. But in the second half Gambit with a strong defense managed to win the map.
The last map was overpass where Gambit managed to stay ahead in the first half. In the second half Gambit showed their defensive prowess again winning all but one round. Thus Gambit took the series with a 3-0 sweep.
Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov had the best performance with a +32 K/D and a 1.49 rating. He also won the HLTV MVP award for IEM Summer 2021.
