Intel Extreme Masters XV – Beijing-Haidian Online: Europe 2020 is a Two-stage Double elimination tournament where 16 teams; 14 via invite, and 2 coming from a closed qualifier battle it out for the $150,000 USD prize-pool. It is an 18-day tournament and this year it is held Online due to the current world situation.
G2 and North face off against each other in their first match in the IEM Beijing 2020 Groupstage. It is the Group B lower bracket match from which the winner will face off against mousesports. G2’s CSGO roster consists of some of the well-known names throughout the CS:GO scenes like kennyS and Niko. Nevertheless, G2 is still dominating despite Niko being fairly new to G2’s core roster.
After the toss and map bans, the match started with Vertigo as Team North’s pick. North performed well on the CT side securing 10 rounds in the first half. Although G2 was on the comeback, they failed to secure enough rounds by a narrow margin and North clinched the victory. The second map picked was Dust2 by G2. After the first map, G2 went on the offensive and with a decisive lead in the first half won the map convincingly. On the decider map, Nuke had x in the lead at half time which ended in them winning the map and ultimately winning the series 2:1.
