Fortnite Season 5 Loot Chest Item Spawn Rate Revealed

A Fortnite Dataminer has revealed the spawn rate of each item when opening a loot chest.

Fortnite frequently adds new items and weapons into the game to keep it fresh and interesting for players. Currently, we are in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 and there are only a handful of days left until the new season. In This season alone we saw the addition of multiple weapons and items that saturated the loot pool even further.

Recently Fortnite players have been saying that the drop rate of Snipers is inflated compared to other guns. But in reality that might not be the case. We do not know the chance of floor loot being certain guns or items but now we know the changes from a normal loot chest.

Fortnite generally tends to avoid disclosing the drop rate of items from loot chests. But recently thanks to a Fortnite data miner we know the drop of each item when opening a loot chest.

Fortnite Loot Chest Item Drop Rate:

HYPEX is a prominent leaker in the Fortnite community and he recently revealed the drop rate of each item when opening a loot chest. There is multiple RNG at play here. When you first open a chest a dice is rolled and that determines which type of gun you will get. After that another dice is rolled that determines the rarity of the gun.

The drop rates of each gun in Fortnite is as follows-

  • Assault Rifle: 43% with 1% chance of Legendary
  • Shotgun: 22% with .34% and .01% being Legendary
  • SMG: 14% with .4% chance of Legendary
  • Pistol: 11% with 4.4% chance of Legendary
  • Sniper: 10% with .69% chance of Legendary

The chests also drop a consumable/equipment along with a gun and their chances are given below-

  • Bandages: 17.6%
  • Mini Shields: 17.6%
  • Big Shield: 17.6%
  • Med-kit: 16%
  • Grenade: 14.4%
  • Chug Splash: 8.8%
  • Shockwave Grenade: 4%
  • Harpoon: 4%

Along with all of these items and consumables, the chests also drop different ammo and building materials. Below are the chances of each ammo type dropping-

  • 18 Light ammo or 6 Heavy ammo or 10/14/18 Medium ammo or 4 Shotgun shells
  • 47.3% chance to drop 30 Wood, 35.7% chance to drop 30 stone, 16.7% chance to drop 30 Metal.
  • 50% chance to drop Gold(Not Accurate).

These drop rates are not official and should be taken with a grain of salt. With the drop rate now revealed players will definitely feel lucky whenever they get a legendary drop from a chest.
