A Fortnite Leaker has claimed that mod support is coming soon to Fortnite and are in the works right now.

“A mod (short for “modification”) is an alteration by players or fans of a video game that changes one or more aspects of a video game” is the definition of a mod according to Wikipedia. Modding a game can mean small changes made to the game textures to a complete overhaul of everything. Mods have a great impact on the longevity and replayability of a game. Games like Minecraft, Skyrim, Fallout 4 are still popular among the gaming community because of the presence of mod support.

Players can tweak games to their liking without the supervision of official developers and share them with the community. The lack of supervision truly creates some unique and amazing results. Modders are passionate about the game and this helps them create things that a developer would not even dream of adding to the game. Many games previously added mod support to make the game replayable and to stretch its longevity.

Now it looks like the popular game Fortnite is also going to be getting modding support in a future update as hinted by a leaker.

Fortnite Mod Support Coming Soon:

A Leaker by the name of Lucas7Yoshi has claimed that mod support will soon be available for Fortnite. He also said,

“Confidence for this is its 100% in the works. To what extent you could mod the game or what you could do with it I’m not sure. But it’s definitely by definition “modding”. more info later w/ someone”.

Many people might think of Fortnite Creative as mod support because players are given the freedom to create things they want. But technically Fortnite Creative is not modding because all the presets were created and tested by Epic developers. So what can mod support mean for the future of Fortnite?

Mod support for games creates an infinite number of possibilities and opens up so many doors for players. They can tweak the game to their heart’s content and make the game look and feel like they want.

But as Fortnite Battle Royale is a player VS player game the modding support might be limited. We might see community-created live events in Fortnite Battle Royale. On the other hand, Fortnite STW and Creative might benefit from mod support tremendously. Epic Games has slowed down the updates for Fortnite STW after it’s transition from early access to a full release. Mods can make this mode extremely popular with many new enemies and new maps and missions and such.

Fortnite Creative will also truly be creative because the addition of mods will allow players to create anything they want. They won’t have to rely on the existing prefabs created by Epic Games. If modding support is added then we might see some truly amazing maps from the Fortnite Creative community.

Take the claim of Fortnite modding support coming soon with a grain of salt as Epic Games is yet to make an official statement regarding this matter. But no doubt modding support will ensure that Fortnite remains popular for many years to come.
