EVO Online 2020 lineup announced

EVO Online is starting from July 4, 2020, featuring exhibition events and open for all tournaments.

Evolution championship series, the most prestigious fighting game tournament in the world has been cancelled recently due to Coronavirus(COVID-19). But the organizers have announced an online fighting game event in order to keep the spirit of EVO alive. Named as “EVO ONLINE“, It will take place from the first weekend of July 2020.

However, they have made some changes to the original tournament lineup announced back in February 2020. For example, they have removed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from the lineup. It may possibly be due to the reputation of the game’s bad online play.

The organizers of EVO labelled the rest of the games present in the original lineup such as Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, TEKKEN 7 and Dragon Ball FighterZ etc as “Exhibition events“. Those games might have an invitational based tournament.

EVO has also announced four games as their open for all tournaments. These games are Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, Killer Instinct, Them’s Fightin’ Herds and Skullgirls 2nd Encore. All of these games have very good online play compared to other fighting games.

The event will begin on July 4th,2020 and it will go on for the whole month. The organizers have told us that they will soon announce more information about the event. They will also announce more information regarding the signup process as well.
