Dota 2: Valve banned team Newbee from all future events following the match-fixing scandal

Team Newbee is a Chinese Esports organization founded back in 2014. Newbee is a pretty known entity in the whole Dota 2 competitive scene with one TI title under their belt.

They also received accolades on many international and local tournaments where they competed against the best Dota 2 teams around the world. In a surprise announcement, Valve suddenly revealed that Team Newbee along with their entire roster is banned from participating in all events hosted by Valve.

Their ban is effective as of January 1st, 2021 meaning from the start of this new year Team Newbee is officially banned from Dota 2 altogether.

Valve bans Team Newbee

The main reason behind the ban was match-fixing. Valve did a proper investigation regarding the recent match-fixing allegation. Upon finding solid proof of such misconduct, Valve decided to officially ban Team Newbee from all future events hosted by Valve.

Suffice to say that the entire Dota 2 scene is in shock after hearing the news. The reaction ranged from disappointment to anger in some instances. Team Newbee is yet to give any official statement regarding the ban.
