In an exciting best of five series, Cloud9 just defeated Giants Gaming to become the APAC North Six Major Champions!
The Six August 2020 Major also being called as the ‘mini-major’ started with APAC North, where the top six teams of Stage 1 fought in a single-elimination bracket. Giants Gaming and Cloud9 were the top two seeds of APAC North stage 1 and were directly qualified for the semi-finals.
Both these teams proved that they deserved the top position of the table as they went straight to the finals of the August Major, beating teams like CYCLOPS and Xavier Esports.
Giants Gaming vs Cloud9 Finals
Giants Gaming, being the 1st placed team in APAC North, were the favorites for many fans to win the title. However, Cloud9 showed their strength and ability at the top stage of Rainbow Six esports, as they won the first two maps in the bo5 series.
Giants Gaming tried to make a comeback as they took a win in ‘Club House’ with a 7-5 score. But eventually, in the fourth map Cloud9 slayed the Giants with a clean 7-0 score and grabbing the title as the APAC North August Major Champions. You can watch the full stream over on Twitch.
Prize Pool
Cloud9 will be receiving $25,600 USD of the total $80,000 prize pool for this region, and also a hefty 510 Six Invitational points for the Global table. You can check the updated Global Points standings here.
