Learn about all the best weapons you can get your hands on in FF16.
To start with good and bad news, Final Fantasy 16 did not intend to add extra powerful features into the weaponries. This seems a successful failure. Now you have no worries about choosing the weapon with the most extraordinary feature as there are no features to start with. It might seem a bit odd in the land of Valisthea, but you will eventually get over it; as I did. Now now, we were talking about weapons.
The weaponry section is quite diversed as they all bear a unique design with some incredible stats. Almost feels like the combat system was restructured for Clive Rosfield. Apart from equipping the best abilities and accessories, you might get in a roundabout while being in the weapon section. So without further ado, let’s introduce you to some iconic weapons to hold and carry on their legacy. Hop in!

Gotterdammerung
Materials: 1x Ragnarok Sword, 3x Orichalcum, 2x Darksteel, 1x Primitive Battlehorn.
From having an Attack stat of 375 and a Stagger stat of 375, to slaying them with Gotterdammerung Slash, is all it needs to describe itself. To add more to that, the damage is massive if you are not convinced yet. However, quite tricky to obtain, I’m afraid.
The high Attack and Stagger are not just for slaying your foes, but you can also farm for extra loot, as Gotterdammerung’s powerful stats make it easy and quick. So, you can farm for more and more materials. Easily. And to add the last bit, quite a stylish sword to be on Clive’s hand.
Ultima Weapon
Materials: 1x Ragnarok Sword, 3x Ultima Weapon Crafting Material, 1x Utterance of Creation.
The dark blade with the cyan glow, the sword is Ultima, you will know. Not so much I fancy my poems but precisely, the Gotterdammerung of the new world. And by the new world, I mean New Game+. Yes, to raise your ATT and STG to a staggering value of 700, you will have to complete and start all over again.
Being Final Fantasy 16’s top sword, the Ultima Weapon simply annihilates your foes momentarily. If you can set aside the only drawback, which is waiting till the next NG+, this brutal monster is the only thing you will ever want.
Ragnarok
Ah, yes, the fan-favorite sword has made an appearance again. Ragnarok is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy franchise. However, the veterans know how it acts on the battlefield. As you can already guess, it is quite hard to handle this kind of monster without prior knowledge. Even if it is powerful, you will need the will to wield it. Requiring both Strenght and MP, Ragnarok might be a deal breaker for you; however, for veterans, this is just another ball in the bag. Ragnarok is also heavier than the others, and it can considerably slow down Clive.
Now, if you want Ragnarok in your stash, you need to complete the Blacksmith’s side quests. Complete these quests to get your hands on Ragnarok.
Everdark
Materials: 1x Icebrand, 1x Dark Shard, 8x Meteorites, 400x Sharp Fangs.
Everdark is considered one of the best Eikon weapons out there. Even though the damage 315 and Stagger 315 are less than that of Ragnarok, it is well-known for endgame foes to slay them down without breaking a sweat. And, of course, the aesthetic design also made it more special than the other ones.
Defender
The Defender is well known for its toughness and durability. Apart from a quite normal look, it still can be a threat to the foes with a staggering ATT of 320 and Stagger of 320. From my perspective, Defender outperforms other aesthetically pleasing swords in terms of sheer damage output, despite having an uncomplicated appearance without any intricate design elements.
And this minimalistic murderous tool can be purchased for 5000 Gil after you have finished the “Streets of Madness” quest. Head to the Goetz’s Toll to check this out. The Defender is the final of its kind in terms of story development, but it is still one of the best weapons—at least until NG+.
Masamune
The famous Katana has been rejuvenated once again in this franchise. This cursed Katana is a death bringer to even its wielder, and with that being said, needless to say, what ATT and STG of 310 are capable of. From a severe damage output to an aesthetically pleasing look, Katana can be all the things you need. However, you will need high strength and dexterity. And yes, a bit heavy to be wielded by Clive. Moreover, of all the weapons we have discussed this far, Masamune is, without a confusion, the most challenging one yet. All you have to do is, dig out a chest in the Angry Gap, The Shadow Coast.
