Follow along with these quests that are full of mysteries and add some extra beats to the story of FF16.
Final Fantasy might not be full of fantasies but side quests, for sure. And the amount of side quests reminds me of that AC Odyssey; felt like the side quests were the main quests at one point. But that’s totally not the case for Final Fantasy, I can assure you. There are multiple side quests where you get to kill some notorious foes lurking around the land of Valisthea. Moreover, these side quests pay you a pretty good ransom. And, of course, the skill points come along.
However, some of the side quests are really not up to that hype. Maybe the story, maybe the characters, or perhaps even the rewards they are offering is not up to the mark. And that is where we start to lose interest. Amidst all these side quests, there are some pretty good stories to follow. Not only do you get Clive’s character development, but also, you get some pretty cool features unlocked. And that’s why I’ll be talking about all the best side quests Final Fantasy 16 has to offer you on this lovely sunny day. Hop in!

The White-Winged Wonder
You have to complete this quest to get your hands on the Chocobo. This gorgeous-looking creature does the exact same job as a normal horse. So, why use horses after all? On top of that, my trusty Chocobo companion, Ambrosia, proves to be rather beneficial in avoiding unpleasant encounters during my voyage. And to get the prerequisites for Ambrosia, you need to accept this quest near Martha’s Rest while pursuing the main story quest, “The Gathering Storm.”
From following the trail of spotless white feathers, I also had to look out for the poachers, as these gargoyles tried to exploit these lovely creatures. Once I acquired and mounted Ambrosia, it made the exploration part became more fun.
The Root of the Problem
This one is part of “After The Storm.” To start that, I first had to head to The Backyard of the Hideaway, where I encountered Nigel, the chief botanist. Nigel asked me if I could acquire Morganbeard Seeds, that are essential for producing the Morganbeard plant in his garden.
So, to collect the Morganbeard Seeds, I followed the map marker that took me straight to Sorrowise, located west of Martha’s Rest. Along the way, I encountered some pesky Goblin Gardeners. Took a bit moment to clear the road and plucked the yellow blossoms from the Morganbeard plant.
After handing these seeds to Nigel, he rewarded me with the Morganbeard Extract. Now, this was quite a game changer as the extract is a key item to enhance the healing potions, adding more defensive or offensive bonuses.
Moreover, another new quest titled “Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol” became available after this quest. This new quest prompted me to face off against one of the most notorious markers, the Carrot. After quite a challenging moment, I was rewarded with Invigorated Morganbeard Extract that furthermore enhanced the potions.
Weird Science
So, I’ve been working on improving the healing potions more ever since. The side mission called “Weird Science” allows Clive to carry more potions in his inventory. For that, I had to look for Owain, the Hideaway’s engineer. He assigned me to take down the Bomb King. Just had to be careful not to get hit by the Bomb King’s ferocious bursts. Moreover, he can even cast self-replicating spells.
After completing the quest, I progressed to the next one, “Even Weirder Science.” This one took me all across the Valisthea looking for Spherical Echoes. And that is how I got another potion capacity improvement.
Blacksmith’s Blues Quest Line
This is a four-part questline titled “Blacksmith’s Blues.” This one features the Ragnarok sword that is resting on an anvil. All I had to do was take the quest from August. He seemed quite concerned about Blackthorn, a blacksmith from the Hideaway. August will assign a total of Four quests to complete, once at a time.
These quests follow a similar format to most other FF16 side quests: Clive must travel somewhere, engage in combat, and more and more. Needless to say, it takes quite a bit of time to complete the whole quest line. However, the ending makes it worth it every time, as each quest gives you crafting recipes as a reward. And that is how I got the crafting recipe for Gotterdammerung, one of the most fearsome swords featured in FF16.
Even Weirder Science
Now, let’s talk about Even Weirder Science. While exploring The Hideaway, Engineer Owain approached me with quite an interesting job. As requested, I had to look for Three Spherical Echoes for a forge he was building. From Rosaria to defeating the Woken Guardian and to slay down the Cobalt Golem and Mythril Golem, are all it took to get those Spherical Echo.
Then I returned to Owain with all three Spherical Echoes. He seemed quite happy about it and, in return, rewarded me with a Goblin Coin and the Expanded Potion Satchel Curiosity. This potion was especially useful as it enhanced Clive’s potion carrying capacity. Now, Clive can keep up to Eight Potions, of which five to store Hi-Potions, four Strength Tonics, and four Stoneskin Tonics.
Payback
The next one was in the Hideaway as well. This time, Gaute, the bar owner, approached me and asked for my assistance to repay some debts owed by the bar to three people. I had to reach out to Martha, a merchant who sells things within The Hideaway. The bar owed her a large amount of 5 million Gil. The second person was Isabelle, a waitress working at The Hideaway, who also had a debt of 5 million Gil to be repaid. Lastly, Charon, a regular gambler at the bar, was also owed 5 million Gil.
To complete the quest, I had to collect the whole ransom of 15 million Gil. For that, I went on more other side quests, exploring the realm, and selling items to raise the fund. Once I collected the 15 million Gil, I returned to Gaute to settle the bills. He expressed his utmost gratitude and rewarded me generously. I got Curiosity, and obtained Cid’s Goblet Curiosity.
