All the guns in Battlefield 2042
Like all other Battlefield games, guns in Battlefield 2042 are also divided into different categories. There are 8 classes: Assault Rifles, SMG, DMR, LMG, Bolt Action, Lever-Action, Sidearms (Pistols), and melee weapons.
One of the first weapons you’ll have access to, the M5A3 is a balanced weapon both in terms of control and damage. A decent pick for anyone starting the game and for veterans too. Especially when you start unlocking attachments
Derived from the Russian Legend AK47s, these are the standard-issue guns for Russian forces in Battlefield 2042. In terms of stats the AK-24 deals great damage in addition to a great range. So you can actually use it in any situation. Although it has a slow rate of fire and handling so you might get outplayed by faster weapons unless you have a great aim. On the other hand, this weapon can be devastating on longer ranges when attached with longer barrels scopes and grips.
This gun deals major damage but sacrifices a lot of handling and magazine size for it; only 20 bullets. Otherwise, the accuracy and range make it a great gun for marksmen. Furthermore, this also comes with a default 7.62mm grenade round.
This Russian AR offers a bullpup design, which leaves room for a longer barrel. Hence the AC-42 is a very accurate weapon and a damaging weapon. The 30 size magazine makes this gun very reliable. It only comes in single fire and burst so it can repel a lot of players.
The PBX-45 can be considered as the standard SMG in Battlefield 2042. Just like the M5A3, this compact gun is easy to handle thanks to its low and vertical oriented recoil, as well a rapid rate of fire that will tear enemies to shreds.
The PP-29 is currently one of the strongest weapons in the game. When combined with the right attachments. Such as a muzzle brake, scope, and an extended barrel can make the PP-29 really deadly. Even though it is slow on the firing speed aspect than most SMGs, its 53 round magazine is more than enough to hold its own.
This SMG uses 9mm rounds making it more of a machine pistol. The best part of this weapon is its low recoil and fire rate of 900. This also means that its 30 round magazine will run out quite instantly.
Therefore it won’t be of much help when facing foes with bigger guns unless you have great aim and can land a headshot or two. Attachments can improve this. The MP9 is best suited for veteran players that can run and gun.
The K30 Vector is the only weapon on par with the PP-29 SMG, in terms of potential. The gun suffers from very low range and accuracy but has great firepower and handling in terms of SMGs, due to its special mechanism that directs recoil force downwards.
Add an extended barrel and a drum mag to the K30 and you will be dropping enemy forces like flies with its outrageous fire rate of 1,150. But be sure to add an extended mag or else the default 20 round mag can’t do much.
Light Machine Guns
The LCMG dates back to the Vietnam War era used by US Special Forces. After so many years, this big gun is still a reliable weapon of war. It offers high damage and low recoil, and a 100 round mag. Perfect for sustained fire to keep enemy squads at bay when defending checkpoints. Also, a great gun to start out the game if you are a newbie.
Just as the LCMG is a classic LMG from the US army. Likewise, the PKP-BP is a classic LMG that has been a favorite Russian forces choice across many generations. This LMG is inferior to the LCMG when it comes to accuracy, range, and handling. Which may be off-putting at first.
Use the right attachments to help with range and recoil control which can get tricky with this LMG. Soon enough you will be seeing a dangerous big gun to use, with its high rate of fire and a 200 bullet mag size.
The DM7 is an amazing weapon in Battlefield 2042 and plays exactly like any DMRs we expect to see in shooting games. The DM7 has a good rate of fire as well as highly damaging potential and accuracy. Use extended barrels and zoom optics to make this equivalent to a sniper. On the other hand, you can also use this in medium-range gunfights.
The SVK offers the most damage and range when it comes to DMRs in Battlefield 2042. On the downside, it is harder to use do due to its low handling and magazine size of 5. This gun is strong but it is best to use it only from long ranges, like a sniper rifle. The small fire rate makes this weapon unreliable anywhere else.
The strangest Marksman weapon in the game. The VCAR looks like one of those compact machine pistols, but actually fires single shots like a marksman weapon. It has a good fire rate that allows for consecutive firing of single shots.
VCAR also has low firepower so only stealthy players should go for this using silencers, or you can just leave this one out. Too many offsets with this one.
SWS-10 is the standard bolt action rifle you find in any FPS game. It has devastating firepower and a quick rate of fire. This means, time to reload is really fast so you don’t have to worry about missing too many shots.
DXR-1 is one of the two Snipers in the game with a 95 firepower. Furthermore, it also boasts slightly better accuracy than the SWS-10. The DXR-1 also comes issued with an 8x scope and as the game suggests can be used to land deadly shots till 800.
The tradeoff is that the handling is very little, magazine size is only 5 so you ought to get some practice and the fire rate is also low so you should count your shots.
The NTW-50 is an anti-material rifle that is devastating when in the right hands destroying both humans and vehicles. But to be in the right hand requires great aim and patience because this heavy sniper rifle has very low handling, a low rate of fire as well as a magazine size of 3 bullets. So you should only use it playing stealth or maintaining some distance from a big firefight.
The standard shotgun in the game. This pump-action shotgun has a good rate of fire, damage as well as an okay ammo capacity of 8 rounds.
The quick rate of fire allows for some run and gunplay but using slug rounds gives you an extra advantage when it comes to range, which is mostly short for shotguns.
The GVT45-70 fuses the Old-school wild west era with a more modern era of war. Battlefield 2042’s take on the classic lever-action slug shotgun is a fun weapon to play with. Not only for its satisfying reload but also its great range and accuracy, thanks to the 2x zoom scope.
No matter how satisfying the lever-action reload is, the rate of fire of measly 92 means every shootout is do-or-die. So you should only use this for an only casual fun time.
As the name suggests, the 12M auto is a full-auto shotgun, that lacks in range and also has the lowest firepower among the shotguns in the game. The firepower of 70. But its 300RPM fire rate can turn this shotgun into a nightmare for unaware enemies. Use this gun to get some run and gun kills and ambushes.
The G57 is the standard issue pistol or sidearm in Battlefield 2042 like it is in so many other games. It does not have any outstanding qualities but it fairly balances out the low firepower with a high quick firing rate and good magazine size. Although not the strongest of weapons in the game, it can still save your life at the most critical of moments.
MP28 is a modded M28 pistol with stocks, grips, and red dot sight. It has high damage and accuracy, even range which means you can use this pistol from a distance. Useful when using weapons like Sniper-rifles, shotguns, and SMGs as primary.
No shooter feels complete without a hard-to-use yet deadly revolver. In Battlefield 2042, the M44 revolver takes this role. Originally designed for hunting animals, it seems this big revolver can do some damage to humans as well.
The raw power, range, and accuracy are balanced out by the 6 round chambers and extremely poor handling. But you’ll see some pros wielding the M44 like it’s a piece of cake.
Best Guns/ Weapons in Battlefield 2042: A Tier List
- S-tier (Best): SFAR-M GL, PBX-45, SVK, DXR-1, DM7, PP-28
- A-tier (Great): NTW-50, LCMG, MP28, AK-24, K40, M5A3, K30
- B-tier (Good): M44, GVT45-70, AC-42, 12M Auto, PKP-BP, SWS-10
- C-tier (Average): MP9, VCAR, MSC-880, G57
Weapons in the S-tier as it suggests are the best guns in Battlefield 2042. Although many would interchange the A-tiers with S-tiers according to their preference. Still, weapons in the S tier are the most fun, rewarding as well as powerful.
The A-tier weapons do not stray far as some of the guns here are also part of the current meta or are very hard to defend against. A great example would be the PP-29 and the K30. Some weapons in this tier may require some attachments for best outcomes.
Coming to the lower tiers, the B-tier weapons contain weapons that have the potential to be a winning factor but their trade-offs are too difficult to play with or require very precise aim and control. On the other hand, some of the weapons can be made almost close to the A-tier level with the right attachments, and a bit of practice. Such as the AC-42 and the SWS-10 Sniper Rifles.
Weapons in the C-tier are very situational and specific to certain playstyles or are just too weak when compared to others. With so many options to choose from, you will not regret leaving this out if you want to rack up serious kills and wins.
