Genshin Impact’s characters use Elemental magic in battle, with each of their move-sets varying from person to person depending on the affinity they are affiliated with. Cryo is one of the seven elements present in Genshin Impact, and Cryo users deal ice damage to their enemies. The Cryo users get their power from the Cryo Archon called The Tsaritsa, which is based in the nation of Snezhnaya. As of writing, Genshin Impact has introduced up to 10 playable Cryo characters in 2022.
Aloy
Aloy is a 5-star Cryo character who was introduced as part of a collaboration between gaming studios miHoYo and Guerrilla Games. Aloy is the main protagonist of Guerilla’s hit Horizon Zero Dawn franchise. Some of her most notable move-sets include her Elemental Skill named after Horizon Zero Dawn’s Frozen Wilds, which allows her to cause an ice-powered explosion by throwing a freeze bomb in the direction of her enemies. Moreover, she is a Bow wielder, making her a great Long-Ranged combatant that can be used as the Sub-DPS of a team.
Chongyun
Next, we have Chongyun, who is a 4-star Cryo Character based in Liyue. He is an exorcist with many icy tricks up his sleeves. Through his Elemental Skill called Chonghua’s Layered Frost, he is able to cause a Cryo explosion by striking his Claymore on the ground, dealing Cryo damage to multiple enemies. Furthermore, if your polearm, sword, or other Claymore wielding party members are within the vicinity of the explosion, their weapons will also be infused with Cryo. Moreover, he is able to summon three large swords from the sky as part of his Elemental Burst that falls onto the earth and creates three consecutive explosions. Like Aloy, Chongyun can also be the Sub-DPS of your team.
Diona
Diona is another 4-star Cryo Character who is a bartender based in Mondstadt. Her Ice Paws Elemental Skill allows her to simultaneously form a shield upon being hit, as well as launch a literal icy paw attack that deals cryo damage to enemies as it strikes. Moreover, she is also able to create a Drunken mist that not only deals Cryo DMG to opponents but also heals allies within the vicinity of the mist. For this reason, Diona makes an excellent Support character.
Eula
Eula is a 5-star Cryo Character as well as Captain of the Reconnaissance Company who uses a Claymore in battle. Through her Cryo-based Elemental Skill, she is able to create an Icetide vortex that freezes opponents with the swing of her greatsword. Moreover, she is also able to summon a Lightfall sword that follows her around and increases her resistance to interruption. The Lightfall sword later explodes, dealing Cryo DMG to nearby enemies. With her ability to land constant hits, she can be used as the Main-DPS of your party.
Ganyu
Ganyu is another 5-star Cryo Character in Genshin Impact who serves as the secretary of the Seven Stars of Liyue, also known as the Liyue Qixing. Ganyu uses a bow in combat and is able to perform six consecutive shots at a time. Moreover, her elemental skill allows her to create an Ice Lotus that taunts surrounding enemies and deals AoE Cryo Damage when it blooms or is damaged. Furthermore, through her elemental burst, she is able to summon a snow and hail storm that hits enemies with ice projectiles. Ganyu can be used as the main DPS of your party.
Kaeya
Kaeya is a 4-star Cryo Character and Sword-wielder in Genshin Impact, who is introduced as the Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius. With his Frostgnaw Elemental Skill, he is able to blast away the enemy in front of him with the swing of his sword, dealing Cryo damage in the process. Moreover, Kaeya’s elemental burst allows him to summon icicles that revolve around him and deal ice damage to nearby enemies. Furthermore, his utility passive reduces allies’ stamina consumption by 20%.
Kamisato Ayaka
Then we have Kamisato Ayaka, who is a 5-star character and also another Cryo Sword-wielder. She is the eldest daughter of the Kamisato clan. Her elemental skill Kamisato Art: Hyouka allows her to plunge an ice blast from the ground, dealing Cryo damage to enemies within the area of effect. Moreover, her elemental burst allows her to summon a snowstorm that freezes enemies in their tracks. You can either use her as the Main or Sub-DPS of your party.
Qiqi
Qiqi is another 5-star Cryo character that is also a Sword-wielder. Since she is a Zombie that has been resurrected by the adepti, both her elemental skill and elemental burst are based on Adeptus art. Through her elemental skill Herald of Frost, she is able to swing her sword to unleash a frosty whirlwind that deals Cryo damage to surrounding enemies. Moreover, reaching level 6 on her constellation allows her to revive fallen party members with 50% of their health when using her Elemental burst. As such, she can be used as a support character.
Rosaria
Rosaria is a 4-star Cryo character and a Polearm user. She is based in Mondstadt and is a member of the Favonius church. Her Ravaging Confession Elemental Skill allows her to swiftly reach her enemy’s blindspot and pierce and slash them with her polearm multiple times. Moreover, her elemental burst calls forth an icy lance from the sky that strikes the enemies after she swings her polearm at them. She can be used as the burst-sub DPS of your party.
Shenhe
Shenhe is a 5-star Cryo character who is also a Polearm user based in Liyue. Being the daughter of a couple of exorcists, she uses her Spring Spirit Summoning Elemental Skill which allows her to land different types of Cryo-infused attacks with the help of a Talisman Spirit. Players can either dash right through an enemy, leaving them frozen in their tracks. Or command the Talisman Spirit to launch a cold blast, dealing Cryo damage over a large area. Moreover, through her Elemental burst, she can create an ice field that deals with continuous Cryo damage to enemies while also reducing their Physical and Cryo resistance. She can be used as the Sub-DPS of your team.

Then we have Eula, who is one of the hardest-hitters in Genshin Impact. She is mostly a physical attack-based character with a strong elemental burst.
