Check out all the best combos that you can use to defeat enemies in Final Fantasy 16.
Final Fantasy 16 (FF16) aims to provide a smooth combat experience for both newcomers and decade-old fans of the franchise. Although it is not turn-based, you can still enjoy a fresh combat style in every battle by mixing and matching various combos and Eikon abilities.
The main purpose of combos in FF16 is to decrease the enemy’s Will Gauge and stagger them, resulting in higher damage output once staggered. You can use these combos to combine melee and magic attacks and the power of all the different Eikons in the game.

That said, you can essentially create a myriad of combos by unlocking different abilities. However, not all combos will give you the desired damage output. To ensure you can bring out Clive’s full fighting potential, we have listed our picks for the best combos in Final Fantasy 16.
Top 5 Best Combos in FF16
Here are the top 5 combos you can use in Final Fantasy 16, all the way from Early Game to End Game.
5. Magic Burst Combo
This is one of the earliest combos you’ll unlock in Final Fantasy 16, and it involves Clive continuously switching between melee attacks and magic bursts. This fast-paced combo works great against single enemies by denying them the chance to hit back.
However, Magic Burst falls behind other combos on this list because it doesn’t work well on multiple enemies. To execute this combo, players must rapidly switch between pressing Square for Attack and Triangle for Magic Burst up to 8 times.
4. Garuda + Phoenix Combo
By combining the powers of the Wind Eikon and Flame Eikon, you can create a rather deadly early-game combo that annihilates staggered enemies. For this combo, you must hold Square to initiate Burning Blade and go for a Lunge attack (Square + X).
Then, you will have to use Garuda’s Gouge skill in combination with Deadly Embrace and Wicked Wheel to stagger the enemy quickly in an aerial combo, followed by a Down Thrust (Square + X), and then switch to Phoenix using L2, and use Rising Flames and Scarlet Cyclone skills to slash the enemies with your flames.
3. Shiva + Ramuh + Odin Combo
Become a deadly force by combining the powers of Shiva, Ramuh, and Odin. You can bring down an elemental rampage on your opponents by using Shiva’s Cold Snap with Ramuh’s Lightning Rod and Odin’s Dancing Steel.
The goal is to dodge at exactly the right moment and counterattack with the Cold Snap spell; inflicting Frostbite. This will freeze your opponent in its track. And when you place the Lightning Rod and hit the frozen enemy with Dancing Steele, the Lightning damage will increase tenfold and greatly reduce the enemy’s health.
2. Mesmerize Combo
This one is the best possible combo for dealing with large masses of enemies. Shiva’s Mesmerize is the perfect spell to use with other Eikon abilities to take down multiple enemies simultaneously.
Your goal here is to pull enemies closer with the Mesmerize skill and follow up with a chain of attacks that let you deal large AoE damage. For the follow-up attack, you can either use Shiva’s Diamond Dust ability or switch to another Eikon.
The best skill choice for follow-up attacks would be Titan’s Earthen Fury or Upheaval, Ramuh’s Judgement Bolt or Pile Drive, and Phoenix’s Rising Flames or Flames of Rebirth.
1. Zantetsuken Combo
Now that we’ve reached the end of the list, we can discuss the best combo in Final Fantasy 16, which utilizes Odin’s Zantentsuken. The Zantetsuken Combo can stagger enemies and slice them up in rapid slashes.
To execute this combo, you must fill up the Zantetsuken Gauge to its maximum limit before you stagger your opponent. Once the gauge is full, press down your Left + Right Analog Sticks to trigger a Limit Break. Now, stagger the enemy by using a skill like Ramuh’s Lightning Rod.
After that, you can finally activate Odin’s Arm of Darkness by holding Square and releasing it to execute Zantetsuken. You can follow up with Odin’s Dancing Steel and Titan’s Windup to refill the gauge and execute another Zantetsuken. Lastly, you can finish off the enemy using Phoenix’s Rising Flames ability and send them straight to hell.
