Battlefield 2042 is finally here. Find out which of the ten Specialists in Battlefield 2042 are the best.
Battlefield 2042 is the latest installment in EA’s widely successful multiplayer first-person shooter franchise of Battlefield. The latest entry has introduced the brand new concept of Specialists, which is a part of the game’s Kit system – determining which class the character belongs to and their battle specialty.
Currently, there are 10 Specialists to choose from – with each of them belonging to one of the four Classes present in Battlefield 2042. However, the number is expected to grow with future updates. In this guide, we will be providing a complete tier list for the available Specialists, explaining our picks from worst to best.
Best Specialists in Battlefield 2042 (A Complete Tier List)
- Best (S-tier) : Emma “Sundance” Rosier, Webster Mackay, Kimble “Irish” Graves
- Good (A-tier) : Wikus “Casper” Van Daele, Constantin “Angel” Anghel, Maria Falck, Ji-Soo Paik
- Average (B-tier) : Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky, Santiago “Dozer” Espinoza, Navin Rao
Here are all the Specialists in Battlefield 2042 ranked from worst to best:
As our top pick for possibly the worst Specialist in Battlefield 2042, we have none other than Navin Rao. He is a Recon specialist with a background in electronics and engineering. His specialty includes hacking enemy vehicles, disabling Rangers, and remotely triggering base defenses. In addition to that, he can also hack into various doors and bridges in the environment. However, as useful as his skill may sound, it barely works.
Hacking vehicles take way too long, with the chances of you being spotted before you can even finish overriding it. It takes quite a bit of time to lock onto a vehicle for hacking, and even then you might lose connection. Furthermore, enemies are also alerted when they are being hacked, giving them ample time to respond to the situation and either retreat or locate you and kill you. With that being said, although a useful skill, it could use a buff in future updates as it is quite underpowered in its current state.
9. Santiago “Dozer” Espinoza
The Assault specialist uses a Ballistic Shield to block incoming fire while closing the gap between him and his enemies. Moreover, he can also use his shield as a battering ram. Furthermore, he has reduced explosive damage effects thanks to his Blast Resistant trait. However, it’s not as great as it sounds in theory.
His Ballistic shield only tends to be useful in certain situations, and you might still die from missiles shot in your way from helicopters or grenades thrown at your feet. Furthermore, the shield might not always be successful in blocking incoming fire in close range, so it’s not as indestructible as it may seem at first glance. Not to mention, his shield significantly affects his mobility, so you will not be able to move as fast as you normally would with other Specialists.
8. Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky
Boris is an Engineer specialist and a sentry operator, with his specialty allowing him to automatically spot and engage with enemies targets detected with the sentry gun. What’s unique about Boris is that you can actually set up the sentry and walk away from it to use it as a secondary weapon or support. However, the range and accuracy of his turret weaken if you step outside the blue radius of his sentry gun.
Although the sentry does have some useful mechanics such as enabling you to see enemies through walls after it has spotted the targets, as well as shoot them even when you are away from the gun. Still, you need to stand close by the sentry gun for the shots to cover a wider range. And staying stationary in one place for too long is not making the best use of a support weapon, and it may simply get boring.
7. Ji-Soo Paik
A Recon Specialist with the ability to make enemies visible through walls, Paik comes equipped with the EMG-X Scanner. The scanner allows her to reveal the location of enemies within a 25m radius of her surrounding. However, her wallhack ability loses its shine in a heavily vehicular battle-focused game like Battlefield 2042. Furthermore, the cooldown period of her ability is thirty seconds, while it only lasts for about 10 seconds.
As the game has a huge map, you might barely make any use of her ability as her scanner doesn’t cover a lot of ground. Not to mention, there are better Recon Specialists in the game that you can use in her stead. Lastly, Paik gives away her location every time she uses her ability as she shows up on the minimap when using her scanner. However, her Threat Perception trait does allow her to spot the enemy that lands hit on her, so with Paik, you can quickly take shelter or retreat.
6. Maria Falck
Falck is a Support Specialist in Battlefield 2042 who can heal multiple allies and herself using her Syrette pistol. Moreover, by firing her syringe at enemies, it can deal damage. Furthermore, she can also revive downed enemies with full health, which makes her a pretty neat Medic character. However, the healing ability of her syringe could be better, which is why she falls behind other Support class characters like Angel. If you like to run around and heal and revive people, she could be a good Support/Medic character to play as.
5. Constantin “Angel” Anghel
Next, we have Angel, who also belongs to Battlefield 2042’s Support Class. His job includes resupplying allies with Ammo, providing armor, and calling in Loadouts. Angel is a versatile character who can do just about everything, from reviving allies with full armor health (Thanks to his Trauma Specialist skill) to restocking their supplies, while having unlimited ammo on himself – which sort of makes him a jack of all trades. He can also throw down IBA armor plates for his allies to use. He can do well on his own but he shines best as a team player. Overall, he is an excellent support/Medic character to play as.
4. Wikus “Casper” Van Daele
Casper is a Recon Specialist in Battlefield 2042 who uses a recon drone to spot enemies over long distances. Moreover, he can also use the drone’s EMP blast to disorient enemies. Not only that, but you can also EMP vehicles to stun them, which is far better than Rao’s vehicle hacking ability. Not only that, but you can also load things like C5 on your drone to take down multiple enemies by surprise. If you carry med-kits on your drone, you can deliver them to your allies.
Furthermore, his Movement Sensor trait allows him to alert allies of enemies approaching in their direction. What makes his character great is the fact that he racks in huge XP. So if you want to level up quickly, he is worth playing as. Just spotting enemies with his drone gives you a lot of points for assists. This makes him one of the best Specialists to play as.
3. Kimble “Irish” Graves
With a big map with vast open environments, Irish’s deployable cover or fortification walls come in extremely handy as you can block off doorways or pop them out to hide behind them when being sniped or attacked. Furthermore, he also has a defense mechanism called the Shootdown Sentinel that you can activate to prevent incoming grenades or missiles from blowing up, saving yourself and your teammates. Overall, he is an excellent Defense character.
2. Webster Mackay
Mackay is an Assault Class Sniper in Battlefield 2042 with the incredibly useful grapple gun. He’s an extremely agile character and incredibly fun character to play as. You can use his character to get into hard-to-reach places and high grounds and snipe enemies from the most convenient vantage points.
This makes him hard to find while also allowing him to take down multiple enemies with ease without being detected. Moreover, he can also be used to reach objective areas quickly. Furthermore, his Nimble trait allows him to move faster while aiming, so in a Kill-or-be-Killed situation, he is the Specialist you want to play as.
1. Emma “Sundance” Rosier
We think it’s a no-brainer that Sundance stands at the top of our list for the Best Specialist character in Battlefield 2042. She is an explosives expert with the Smart Explosives specialty that can be operated in three modes. If you’re looking for an anti-vehicle gameplay style, her anti-armor grenade is pretty great as it can lock onto vehicles, track them down and detonate. The Scatter grenade on the other hand is a cluster grenade that deals heavy damage, allowing you to take down multiple enemies at once.
Lastly, her EMP field grenade releases pulses and disables turrets and rangers while also dealing damage to enemies. Not only that, in addition to her grenade belt, she also comes equipped with a Wingsuit, which makes her an incredibly fun character to play as. The wingsuit provides her with incredible mobility and speed to cross over large distances and get behind enemies. However, flying with her wingsuit can take a while to master as you can die if you don’t time your landing right.
