In the previous trailers, many of the fan-requested features were revealed. However, the recent announcement of Battlefield Portal has created a huge impact in the community.
Battlefield Portal Features
Battlefield Portal is a web tool allowing players to create their own custom servers featuring some content from previous fan-favorite titles: Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3. Developers reworked the previously successful maps and weapons to fit them better in Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield Portal does not stop at just creating servers, it also includes nostalgic maps, players are able to create their own game modes, change map rotations, tweak moving speeds and weapon damages, add various rules using the logic editor, and more. There will be a server browser for Battlefield Portal where you can join ongoing servers or create your own.
Using Portal, casual players can create their own small-scale battlefields and while some can create wild modes suitable to their tastes. Bots can also be included to fill the roles if needed, broadening the possibilities. Battlefield Portal opens up new horizons for content creators. On the other hand, the addition of content from older games is sure to attract long-time fans of the series.
The addition of Portal will allow the players to recreate game modes from other games. While the developers are calling Battlefield Portal “a love letter to the fans”, it might just be the factor that pushes Battlefield 2042 to the spotlight. Battlefield 2042 will release on October 22, 2021.
