Developer Turtle Rock Studios delayed the game’s release from June 21 to October 12, 2021.
The Left 4 Dead franchise has laid dormant since Left 4 Dead 2 released back in 2009. 11 years after its release, the announcement of Back 4 Blood back in 2020 has garnered much attention and excitement from the gaming community.

Regarding the delay, Turtle Rock Studios’ Chris Ashton said in a statement “Turtle Rock Studios is working hard to make Back 4 Blood the best game it can possibly be at the launch, and the team needs more time to do this. Therefore, we will release Back 4 Blood on October 12, 2021.”
Back 4 Blood was announced in the 2020 Game Awards back in December with the launch of a closed Alpha later. The game had received a positive reception from the Alpha and the developer wants to do more and do bigger things with the game.
The co-op multiplayer zombie shooter has originally been announced and teased in March 2019 and not a lot has been shown or announced since then.
Chris Ashton said that he wanted the game to have more stories and varieties of zombies and wants the players to enjoy the game with their friends and the hopes to make it an experience that would last and resonate with the players for a long time.
Back 4 Blood will be released for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
