Astralis sweep Liquid 3:0 and win the IEM Global Challenge 2020

The Intel Extreme Masters Season XV-Global Challenge 2020 is an online two double-stage format tournament organized by ESL. 8 teams; 4 in each group fight it out for the $500,000 prize pool.

Both Team Astralis and Team Liquid being 2nd in their respective groups, in a stunning turn of events managed to defeat the alternate group champions and now face each other in the Grand Finals of the IEM Global Challenge.

After the toss, the selected maps were: Inferno, Overpass, Dust 2, Nuke, and Vertigo as the tie-breaker if such need arrives. Astralis started strong in Inferno, getting a nice 9:6 lead at halftime, and ultimately with the insane plays coming from Magisk they took the map 16:11. Astralis take Overpass as well with notable plays from dev1ce and dupreeh with amazing A site holds. The third map dust 2 had them neck and neck at half time, but they managed to clinch the map with a stunning ACE from dev1ce.

Nicolai dev1ceReedtz got the well-deserved MVP with consistent performances throughout the series with a +23 K/D and 100.4 ADR. Peter dupreeh Rothmann showed an amazing performance as well and the duo showed astounding teamwork throughout the series. On the other side Russel “Twistzz” Dulken had a strong performance as well with an 81.6 ADR.

Thus, the IEM Global Challenge comes to an end with Astralis as its crowned Champions. They have performed excellently for the past three years winning every single major they participated in thanks to the meticulous work by the organization and timely recruitment of the right players.
