Sledgehammer Games, and Activision told the story of the birth of the special forces at the end of the World War II era in this game.

With Vanguard, Sledhammer used the upgraded version of the IW 8.0 engine, the same one used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This offer realistic visuals which fits with the military setting. Call of Duty: Warzone, the F2P multiplayer, and hugely popular Battle Royale also uses the same engine.

Call of Duty, at it’s core is a run and gun shooting game but Vanguard introduced taking cover, blind fire and moving from cover to cover. These changes frustrated a lot of players as taking cover makes the games feel slow according to many.
